Last Minute Anniversary Trip Report!

Hello folks!

Well I'm back from my whirlwind tour of the WORLD. Before I do a full trip report, I want to do a sort of Good, Bad, and Ugly summary for the highlights/lowlights. This trip was brief, but jam-packed. Preston and I got to experience a lot of "new to us" things that really made the trip fun! There were some downsides too....but live and learn, right?

THE DETAILS
July 20th - 22nd Riverside
PLUS Bonus Night: July 26th Pop Century

1 Day Park Hopper (Comp from my Sister)
1 Day Magic Kingdom Only Tickets

THE GOOD

-Everything we ate (Kouzinna, Pecos Bills, Tangerine Cafe, Ghiradelli, Captain Cook's, Beaches and Cream, Casey's, Chefs de France)

-The weather, while hot, had a nice cooling rain storm every afternoon

-Our rooms at both Riverside and Pop Century were clean, cool and comfortable

-Loved the pool at Riverside

-Spent some quality time with my man and my family

THE BAD

-Crowds. We definitely didn't get ride or do as much as we wanted, or did last year in early August

-Park Transportation seemed extra....hassley as well

-Tour groups in full force; was engulfed by mono-color shirts several times

THE UGLY

-It seemed to me that this trip we experienced quite a bit of rudeness from other guests. I have NEVER had that happen the 10 plus other times I have been in my life. Line cutters, argumentative guests, being run over by strollers and scooters, shouting matches between families, whiny kids.... We even saw a guest PUT HIS HANDS on a CM!!!!!!

-The level of service provided by Riverside was not up to Disney standards, nor up to past visits. We will not be staying there again in the future.

-Scantily clad teenagers (about 21 of them) crammed into the hottub. Yuck.

All that said, while Disney is super special in our hearts, we will NOT be planning another summer trip in the future. We're gonna stick to "down times" like winter.

I will leave you with this photo, and hopefully have a true trip report updated in the next day or so!

NEW EARS:

(please excuse my sweaty face, smeared make-up, and googly eyes)

Love the new ears. And don't worry about what you feel you look like. You look happy and you were with someone you love dearly and at a place you love.

eek eek eek eek eek Ugh, the nerve of some people! Having worked in both restaurant and retail customer service for several years in high school and college (customer service and returns at Best Buy...some of the most hated people in the world, I can assure you!) it makes me SO angry to see employees treated poorly!!!

In happier news, I cannot wait to hear about your Kouzinna experience! We are planning on a dinner there when we stay at the Boardwalk on our next trip and I haven't heard much about it.

It really made my heart hurt. CMs are always so nice and helpful, and to see a grown man putting his hands on a very polite, very patient younger lady made my blood boil. Preston and another gentleman got involved verbally and stayed on the scene to try and ensure her safety until another CM came.

I CANNOT recommend Kouzinna enough. It is so underrated. The food, service, and atmosphere are, to me, on level with a signature dining experience. I would urge more people to go there, however, I am happy that we can always get an ADR even with just a weeks' notice.......

How sad there was the negative. No polite way of putting this... Were the tour groups English speaking? What the heck had the CM done for an ignorant bully to put his hands on her? That's assault in any country. Good on Preston for getting involved.

Your picture is what Disney is about happiness and fun. Love the new ears, they really suit you.

According to my CM sister, the tour groups are mostly from Brazil and had limited English, however often understood more than Americans assumed.

The CM had told the man that Splash Mountain was closed for the evening and even offered his family all day, all access fastpasses good for any attraction! But he was insistent on getting on Splash Mountain despite it being broke and evacuated minutes before.

Was this "man" part of the tour group?
