Late November Crowds

Hello All!

I'm wonder what the crowds will be like in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. We'll be in parks for 5 days. Friday 11/20-Tuesday 11/24.

Our annual vacation to Disneyland is usually during those days so I'm anticipating large crowds. At DL the lightest day is Friday, slightly larger crowds Saturday and a significant jump in attendance each day leading up to Thanksgiving.

Can I expect a similar rate of increase at WDW? Does the option of other parks help disperse some of the congestion?

Thanks you! mickey

WDW will likely be quite crowded, though typically Thanksgiving is not as full as Christmas. We went the week after Thanksgiving 2013 (beginning that Saturday right after the holiday) and other than the Tuesday and Wednesday right after (which were some of the slowest days I've ever spent in WDW), it was pretty crowded. I can't imagine that the week OF Thanksgiving would be less crowded than the week after. I don't think you're in danger of parks closing due to capacity, but there will be lots of other folks enjoying WDW with you!

The only thing that you might have going for you is that Christmas isn't completely deployed everywhere until Black Friday, so people who are intent on seeing all of the holiday festivities might not choose that week because Christmas at EPCOT (Candlelight Processional, Holidays around the World) won't officially begin until the end of the week.

If you want to have Thanksgiving dinner somewhere that's...Thanksgiving-y like Liberty Tree Tavern, be ready to reserve it at 180 days. Those reservations go fast!

I have gone to WDW arriving the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend. I must say it it THE most amazing time there. The crowds were not overly large, the after hour's Christmas Party was amazing. and overall since it is already Christmas in Disney's world it was a GREAT way to start the holiday season.

Walt Disney World's Guest make up is a little different than that at Disneyland with much heavier local traffic in California. That being said, yes, there will be an increase in traffic over the Thanksgiving Holiday. You can anticipate the Magic Kingdom having the most significant traffic increase, with the other Parks having fewer guests. The best way to take advantage of the crowd dispersment is to head to those other parks. For a day by day breakdown I highly recommend touringplans.com.

We will be there over the same period, we are planning to hit the parks early (we will still be on UK time as its right at the beginning of our trip so we shouldn't have a problem) and then leave once the crowds become unmanageable. Possibly going back in the evening for some fireworks but that all depends on the crowds (might just hit TOTWL instead).
