Legoland in Central Florida??

Looks like there's a possibility of a Legoland being built in Central Florida. Even more reason to extend your stay...

I've been hearing tons of rumors on this, but they all seem like rumors. Half the people are saying it's a done deal and the other half, "no way."

I'm in favor of easier access to LEGOs at all times.

OK, as "lego neutral", somebody tell me why this is a big deal?

I honestly don't know, and I know NOTHING about the Legoland California park.

I think it's a big deal primarily because it's a "real" park. It would be like if universal was opening another park or whatever. Or maybe I'm wrong.

A "real" park in comparison to what?

Maybe meaning that it's going to be enough of a draw that it could become another "destination" park in Florida.

OK, but that still doesn't tell me WHY people might want to go to it.

If I can go to Legoland or go to the Zip Line park, I'm zippin!!!

I actually don't know that much about LEGOLand, but I love(d) LEGOs. I was saying it was a "Real" park like bali said. Something that could actually convince people to go, not just something hoping to capitalize on the popularity of the other parks.

Then again, there's the possibility that it'll just drive MORE people to Orlando--all those crazy lego-lovers... sarcastic silly

Man, I've never met anyone so ambivalent towards LEGOs. I thought they were universally loved.

I can't recall ever having any Lego's as a kid. Maybe thats why.

It's kind of like my wife. She never had an Etch-A-Sketch, so I bought her one when she was in her 30's.

She used to play with it while we were watching TV.

So what you're saying is it's time for your wife to buy you some Legos? I have to say though, that the modern ones are not nearly as cool as when they first came out. The pieces are so tailored for whatever the kit is you bought. When I had them you had very generic pieces and could make a wide variety of stuff with them.

Speaking of Legos, this is pretty cool....
Great photographs recreated in Legos.

One funny thing I've been noticing about this online is everyone keeps talking about how the rumors are "building." It seems like every blog and forum is posting about it and then citing one of the other forums/blogs and then they all agree that that means that the rumors are more substantiated.

I guess that's how rumors "build." People repeat them a lot without someone else telling them they're wrong.

No tribute to MJ at Legoland! Even in death, the lawyers keep on truckin....

Carlsbad, CA - Due to unresolved legal issues, LEGOLANDî California is no longer moving forward with its plan to install a model of Michael Jackson in Miniland U.S.A. as a tribute to the pop icons historical contribution to the history of music.
We were looking forward to installing a small tribute to Michael Jackson in Miniland, said Peter Ronchetti, General Manager of LEGOLAND California Resort. However, legal matters have come to light that prevent us from displaying the model in the Park.
Miniland is the heart of LEGOLAND California and is where you can find miniature versions of nine geographical areas from around the country including Washington D.C., Southern California, New York, Las Vegas and New Orleans. The area features four-inch-tall replicas of several iconic figures including President Barack Obama and Aretha Franklin in Miniland Washington D.C. and Elvis Presley in the Grand Central Terminal in Miniland New York.

Probably one of the people to whom he owes that $400 million to want to license the right to make a lego MJ to recoup some money.

Since our conversation topics on this board have gone to both Legos AND 'Top Gear', I thought you might be interested in this. James May of TG is building a full sized house of Legos next week, and then plans to live in it a short while.

That sounds just like my plan if you remove "a short while!"

Legoland looks like it will be a lot of fun. I think it's opening in October? If we were going that month, we would definitely make a stop!

I think the rides in Legoland are mainly geared towards kids. I looked into going to the one in Ca, but if I remember right we didn't go because there really weren't any adult rides.
