Surf and Turf

Most underrated meal on Disney property is yah ask me! It's my favorite. I always say I'm going to try something different and I never ever do.

These are from our 2008 trip - dinner at Le Cellier:

I had the Mushroom Filet (despite not liking mushrooms - I ate around them Tongue)

I forget what this was that Joe ordered:

And I had the "moose" that Donald posted originally, but Joe had this for dessert:

I believe it was the Campfire S'mores.

And we had those amazing pretzel rolls to boot! That was a great meal...and our ADR was right at 4:00 when they opened, so we got to witness the staff singing the Canadian national anthem awesome

I did not know that the staff sang the Canadian National Anthem, at the start of dinner, another fact to put in my memory bank. wink

Peg - Right beside the Hollywood Brown Derby in DHS.

Mr. Hub - is that the fabled Tonga Toast? It's HUGE! Stuffed with something, I'm assuming?

Wait a minute. Lizzy_B hasn't had Tonga Toast EITHER?!? Zebra domes, tonga toast...there was something else you hadn't had, wasn't there? Shocking. (I haven't had tonga toast, myself, but we're not talking about me...)

I know right?? It's so sad, what I've missed by being LOCAL and an AP-er! You know, I'm really starting to feel the wisdom of my decision to ditch the passes for a year or two, just to force myself into trying some other things! DH and I are scheduling a date night this month and heading back to Jiko for some more of that AMAZING flank steak flatbread. I'm thinking we'll try and sit at the kitchen bar. (But I have had my zebra domes now - woot!)

We like pics of food, regardless of where they're from! We've heard such good things about DL we're trying to decide if it's for us. The food is one of the big advantages I've heard.

That's not to say Disneyland isnt magical in its own right.. because it is. I just usually eat in Downtown Disney or at the Hotel.

DD - have you eaten at Napa Rose? It seems intriguing. I love that terrace outside!

I don't think I have a favorite actually, haha. We are trying to eat at new places for us (River Belle Terrace was one of those) cause we always went to the same places before. DH likes the burgers from Tomorrowland Terrace, I like the options from Pizza Port cause they have more than just that.

There are some good places over at DCA too.

One of the things we really enjoyed at DL was the food. They definitely don't have as many options and the table service was hit or miss (we were pretty unimpressed with Blue Bayou for example), but the counter service is SO much better than at WDW. Just about any place you go has pretty good food at the counter-service places in DL. In WDW you have to pick your counter service much more carefully. Maybe we just got lucky or it was the newness but we were really impressed with the DL food.

Here are some food pics from 50's Prime Time:
