Liberty Tree Tavern - Lunch or Dinner?

Liberty Tree Tavern is a staple of Magic Kingdom dining, but which meal do you think is better, the varied lunch menu or the all you care to eat dinner?

Lunch! You can't get the pot roast at dinner.

I went for dinner in 2012 and wasn't overly impressed. In February we're doing lunch. I LOVE a good pot roast so I think that's what I'll be trying.

I had the pot roast for lunch a few years ago and was so surprised at how good it was.

I've never had dinner there but you can only get the Ooey gooey toffee cake at lunch, so I vote lunch!

I vote for lunch too. Their dinner to me is just so-so, but I have always enjoyed lunch there.

Disney food blog did an excellent review of both menus and I think I would have picked lunch over the dinner.

Looks like a great place to eat.

It was your photos that persuaded me to book an ADR there a couple of years ago. Peter would never let me book anything, preferring to be "spontaneous". After that meal, he was a convert, and looks forward to seeing where we will eat next. awesome

We've booked ADRs at Liberty Tree Tavern a couple of times and always cancelled them in favor of something a little more exotic, or just because we decided we had too many ADRs. There's nothing on that menu I can't either get or make at home, so it's not really high up there on my dining bucket list. Same with 50s Prime Time Cafe.

I will admit that as much as I'm looking forward to trying that pot roast, if by some miracle we can get a Be Our Guest Reservation Liberty Tree Tavern will get canceled.

Some pictures of our meal at LTT in 2012. DH had the turkey, I had the pot roast. We both had the OGTC for dessert. This was also exactly what we had for our LTT lunch in 2010. lol! It's our traditional farewell meal in WDW.

OMG, pot roast is the easiest thing ever, just season the meat and toss it in the crock pot with potato, carrot, onion, celery, pour a jar of gravy over the top and let it do its thing for 5-6 hours. Nom nom nom nom

You beat me to that Kristen, my computer glitched and deleted my post. The gravy I make thought is a jar of savory beef gravy, 1/2 cup of Ranch dressing and 1/4 cup of A1 New York Steak marinade. Mix that together and pour it over everything then let it cook. Oh my god, heaven in a crock pot!!!!!!!!!! Use a chuck roast too, NOTHING LEAN!!!!!!!!!!!

I use a jar of savory beef gravy too, and if we have a dark beer like Guinness or Pepe Nero I mix it half and half. I may give your gravy recipe a try next time!

We need to start a "what's for dinner" thread so I can get some new recipes laugh

Sounds fab, I am used to doing my roasts English style, in the oven and make gravy after using the meat juices. I have only recently bought a crock pot, I make a mean sausage and Mexican bean casserole. I have got pulled pork on my menu for the new year.

When you say jar of gravy?? I make mine using stock, stock cubes and thickening granules, is that ok?

Brin yes that should be fine, just make sure it's thickened already, unless you like the thinner sauces. I don't usually make my gravy from scratch. I start with this:

Add this:

Then this:

Oooooh Yeaaaaahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This mixture is very thick when you our it over the veggies and meat, but after the fat and starts to render down and the juices from the meat come out and mix in, oh my god its good!!!!!!!!!!

My only Liberty Tree Tavern comment is "don't get the salad." I chose salad to balance against some of the heavier meals that we had on the trip and with a run looming at the end of our week, I had to be conscious about what kind of fuel I was putting in my body. The salad was pitiful. If you happen to need to "eat clean", this is not the place to book an ADR. Luckily I did taste Benn's meal (I don't remember what it was) and it was delicious, so I would book here again knowing that salad is not a valid option!

Lunch here too. I do not really do buffets - can never eat enough to make it worthwhile. Had the turkey, was a bit salty though. I need to try that pot roast!
