So it's cool that they are bringing back out some of the old characters but I just wonder how much guests will really get into it cause most kids would have no idea who they are

I've got Limited Time Magic Updates happening on Sundays on the main page too. I can't promise it will be every Sunday (for instance in week 2 there was nothing going on at WDW, only in DLR) but as long as they publish it it will be up there!
I love that many of the older characters that they mentioned are ones that have gotten some recent publicity via the Epic Mickey games. I think that kids who play the games will know them, and adults will really get into it. 
I would be all over that Robin Hood meet.
She must have been tired when she put that up! 
I wish they had these characters around all the time. These were the ones from my childhood memories at MK.
