Have any of you had the distinct displeasure to visit our beautiful Central Florida during lovebug season? Hitting 2 or 3 times a year, these nasty little creatures swarm, etch the paint on your car if you don't get them off, and generally just gross you out. We are THICK (suddenly) in the middle of the May lovebug onslaught (they'll surface again in August, and then shortly sometime in the winter, when they aren't too bad.)
Here's a tip if you drive, and you are here when they are here: RUN, don't walk, to the nearest carwash and get them off your car ASAP. Their acidic little carcasses will eat right through your clearcoat and into your paint. (I wish someone would have told us this during our first encounter with the season, circa early 90s.)
Anyone else get visits from lovebugs? I think they're mostly a southern coastal plague phenomenon, but I'm no expert.
Here's a pic in case you have no idea what I'm talking about.
