Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern

Some of you might be surprised to see that we didn't go to Liberty Tree Tavern on our first day in WDW. We decided this time to remove the stress of having to get there in time for an ADR after we arrived for the airport. We did it on day 2 instead.

We wound up arriving 10 minutes late due to Monorail issues, but it actually wasn't very busy. We were seated pretty much immediately in the George Washington room, which is probably my favorite:

As always, we got the tavern fried cheese:

And I got the clam chowder:

Their soup of the day was a "potato and sausage" soup which sounded good, so DW got it. I was expecting something with a creme base but it was actually a brothy soup. It was actually really good despite being not at all what we expected:

We went with our usual entrees -- Pot Roast and the Burger. There were several new-ish items on the menu, but we went with the old standbys. Unfortunately for whatever reason they weren't very warm by the time we got to the table:

They had several new desserts as well, but you have to get the ooey gooey toffee cake. And we also tried a blueberry cobbler thingy. I don't think that's new either, so we continued to be boring:

The ice cream on the cobbler was home made, so it was a bit different but still good. Once again though the desserts felt like they had sat out for a bit. Overall it was still good, but not as good as I'm used to at LTT. Has anyone gone recently? Maybe they're finally jumping the shark. Or maybe it was our fault for not going when we first got there!

The pot roast looks good. I had the turkey last year for lunch. I'm trying to decide to get the turkey again or try the pot roast.

We've never ate there before and it all looks yummy... Especially the dessert... Is this a quick serve option for lunch?

HI Jess. This is a table serve restaurant. It is really good. I'm looking forward to going back this year.

This is lunch and it's still family style "Thanksgiving" food for dinner. I think the pot roast is the best thing there, although the burger comes close. It's table service for both lunch and dinner, but very different menus.

That would be easy to change up, though, yes? Just have your big meal at lunch instead of dinner? Looks sooo good!

Does LTT serve "Pumpkin Pie"? You think it would with it being "Thanksgiving Style" but not sure.

Looks like according to Disney Food Blog, dinner dessert at the all you care to eat meal is "Johnny Appleseed Cake" - white cake with apples and craisins. Since they serve turkey, roast beef, and pork loin according to this menu, I guess they don't go "all in" with the Thanksgiving meal.

We have always had an apple crisp type dessert with ice cream. I guess they must stick with apple type desserts. It was very good. So good, we had seconds!

I am soooo wanting a piece of Apple pie something right now!

If I had to guess, I'd say this new dessert has something to do with the Ocean Spray partnership announced last year. I hear there's going to be a bona fide cranberry bog at this year's F&W! Can't wait to see that!

I loved the Cranberry Bog! Just talking about all of this is making me hungry. We never got there during vacation, the replacement meal was good, but now I'm wishing it had been this!

The Bog is great! Can't wait to see it again. When I passed it just before 3am during the Wine & Dine After Party, the bog "farmers" were playing air guitar with their rakes to Journey! I'm like...why are you still here and awake?? It was great!

Thos poor guys are going to be so bored on some days! They need to stay entertained some how. Most of the times that I walked by they were just sort of leaning on their rakes. I hope that they have a successful enough time that it becomes a regular feature at the Festival. It was pretty neat!

I'm looking forward to seeing the cranberry bog. I live a couple of hours away from the Cape Cod and have never seen a bog there. I've looked into it a couple of times but haven't made it yet.
