Lurker steps out of the Shadows

Hello Everyone! My name is Angie & I've been lurking on this wonderful site for about two months.
I am a Police Officer who currently works afternoon shift so your site has given me lots of
decompression reading after I get home in the evening and try to unwind.

I am going to Disney World from Sept. 30th thru Oct. 6th 2012 with my S/O- AJ. We are both in
our early 40's and am really looking forward to seeing The World with adult eyes biggrin

I've been to Magic Kingdom twice, when I was in my early twenties..and Epcot/Hollywood Studios (MGM)
once during the same time period. This time I'm really looking forward to taking time to appreciate the
back stories and architecture Disney has put into The Worlds!

AJ has been to the Magic Kingdom once with her sister wayyyy back when - so this will all be new again.

My favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion- AJ has never been on it-so it will be fun to share it with her.
Her favorite ride is the Tower of Terror-and I've never been on that one- so it will be new for me.

AJ's favorite character is Remy from Ratatouille and I'm an Evil Queen fan from Snow White.

This is our 6th year wedding anniversary & we will be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. I love
all things French & Italian so this was my first choice. I have never stayed on site before and am looking
forward to using all the transportation options and not having to drive a car! We are flying in from
Michigan and this is the first time we have used the Magical Express clapping The New Orleans design
looks romantic and less busy, a plus for us wanting to steal a few minutes to ourselves.

We have the Free Disney Dining Plan and I will post a Pre-Trip shortly ...

Thank you so much for all your input on this site, it has been so very helpful in planning our vacation!
Some of the ideas I've found around the Disney sites has been a Countdown to Disney Basket-where I pre-wrapped
fun little trinkets and have been AJ open one a day for the 29 days leading up to vacation. I've learned all
about Mickey Mail and the fun of enjoying the countdown process. I throughly enjoy the planning process
and immerse myself in blogs, books and articles to the fullest extent (must be the cop in me~! cool ).
AJ is happy to let me take the vacation planning reigns and I occasionally ask for dining opinions or
suggestions (but not often LOL). She only asks we schedule relaxation points in my break neck scheduling
for short moments of the day.

muchlove Thanks again for your great site!

Welcome. We stay at the french quarter every year. We love how quaint it is. It is not french french, but if you like the French Quarter in New Orleans you will love this. Don't forget to eat the beignets. Tiana recommends them also. laugh

I can't wait to hear how you and AJ liked Port Orleans. We are staying in the Riverside section in November, and I'm looking forward to hearing what both of you think of it Smile

Welcome Angie and AJ. Apparently, I am not the only one that has been lurking for awhile. Are you planning to visit the Food & Wine Festival? (Here we are with the food thing again.) I'm sure you are going to have an amazing time.

yay Thank you Everyone for the very warm wishes! I am glad to hear so many of you have enjoyed the French Quarter Resort...I'm a complete foodie, sweets are my weakness! So while we might be rather plain eaters in some ways, I'll make up for it with the Beignets, Cinnamon Rolls and Dole Whips ( I've never had any of them before )

Mcky626 Welcome too~! yes we are going to the Food & Wine Fest... I've been making a list of some of the foods
I want to try...It will be a great chance for us to sample/split some of the items when we otherwise might not take
the risk to buy a whole meal... I'm hoping we can find some new likes as we end up getting stuck in the Pizza or Pasta ?
routine a lot.

AJ can't wait to hear Sugar Ray play at Eat to the Beat the first part of our stay....We have ADR's at Poly, Les Chefs De France, Sci Fi Drive In, Via Napoli, Tusker House and Planet Hollywood.... I can't tell you how many nights I have come home to browse your sight and been starving at 1am after looking at all the wonderful photo's posted.

In 2 days I will be able to register online !~ Whoo Hoo! clapping clapping clapping

Hi Angie
I am glad to hear you have a sweet tooth. A recommendation for you might be the cupcake crawl. You can find info on the Disney food blog. I just had it someone on here recently tell me about and I can't wait to try it. Although I have limited it to two per trip and since we go twice a year I will probably never finish the crawl. They keep creating more and more delicious options awesome I hope your flight is great. We drive everytime from southwestern ontario (we are an about an hour from the Windsor/Detroit boarder). It is a beautiful trip and always an adventure. Hope you have the time of your lives!

Can you say diabetes?!?! I am going on all in. I am going to do the whole crawl in my ten days. awesome At least the crawl that was given to me to do:

Cupcake crawl:
Contemporary cafe : apple spice, chocolate peppermint, red velvet
main street bakery: burger cupcake, peanut butter cupcake
Poly Capt Cooks chocolate macadamia, Lemon ginger
HS starring rolls: Butterfinger cupcake, other places in HS look for ice cube cupcake
Boardwalk: smores cupcake
sunshine seasons choclate raspberry cupcake
Karamelle Kuche caramel corn cupcake.

12 cupcakes in 10 days. I can do that.

And a hearty Welcome Aboard to you, Magic Mirror!

I'm super-excited that you get to do the Food and Wine Festival...it is fun overload!! And YAY for Sugar Ray...that makes it even better! We saw Howard Jones the last time we were there...remember him??...and it was like the highlight of my life.

I suggested this to Mcky626, too, because she's going to be there during F&W as well, but you may want to check out the Disney Food Blog to help you plan your attack around Epcot. They've got an awesome compilation of everything F&W over there, including all the stuff in each of the smaller booths around the World Showcase.

Have FUN planning and doing, and WELCOME!!

yeah Disney Dee- Welcome to the party - no worries on being "late" biggrin LOL
Thanks for your hello's and we're back from the World..
I'm already starting to secretly plan the next trip!

I'm sure you know all about scheduling conflicts in this type of profession..
so I'm in a somewhat stuck mode now for an exact week...but I'm hoping
for next November...for cooler weather, less humidity and the Christmas Party ...
