Hmm.. we're skeptical, but we have a lot of faith in Favreau.

I'm hoping for something good. It can be VERY clever if done well. I'm wondering if it's going to be based on the Ridley Pierson Magic Kingdom books - it doesn't say anything in the article, but it seems likely.
How cool, though, if they can get the characters from the rides in it - the Brers from Splash Mountain, Snow White, Dumbo etc.
Could be like Who Framed Roger Rabbit if done well.

What an interesting idea. I haven't read the Ridley Pearson books -- what are they?

They're YA literature - the first one was excellent - the second not so much. The book is called Kingdom Keepers. From Amazon:
In this fantastical thriller, five young teens tapped as models for
theme park "guides" find themselves pitted against Disney villains and
witches that threaten both the future of Walt Disney World and the
stability of the world outside its walls. Using a cutting-edge
technology called DHI--which stands for both Disney Host Interactive and
Daylight Hologram Imaging--Finn Whitman, an Orlando teen, and four
other kids are transformed into hologram projections that guide guests
through the park. The new technology turns out, however, to have
unexpected effects that are both thrilling and scary. Soon Finn finds
himself transported in his DHI form into the Magic Kingdom at night. Is
it real? Is he dreaming? Finn's confusion only
increases when he encounters Wayne, an elderly Imagineer who tells him
that the park is in grave danger. Led by the scheming witch, Maleficent,
a mysterious group of characters called the Overtakers is plotting to
destroy Disney's beloved realm, and maybe more. This
gripping high-tech tale will thrill every kid who has ever dreamed of
sneaking into Walt Disney World after hours and wondered what happens at
night, when the park is closed.
Like I said, I really liked the first one. The second book was painfully bad.

Sounds slightly Tron-like!
I'm intrigued...if it's done like Night at the Museum, I think it will be really good. But do you think they'll focus on DLR or MK...or keep it more general, like a blending of the two?
I really like Favreau's stuff, and I can't see him making a dud like the Haunted Mansion movie or the Tower of Terror movie. However, I'm not sure how well the parks translate into film; I don't have a strong enough imagination to figure out what a plot line could be that would have enough suspense and humor.
Favreau did Elf, right?
