We are doing the QS dining plan in September too for the same reason. We won't be tied down but plan to pay out of pocket for an anniversary dinner at BOG in Fantasyland.
Yay for Ashley Judd!! Good ole Kentucky gal!!

If it were me, I'd upgrade to the standard dining plan but stick with the value resort. It's only a little more expensive, and you'll get better dining choices.
I'll second that. I think if it was me, I would use the table service credits to do signature/2 credit per meal dining. You might get to try places you wouldn't normally, and you wouldn't have TS reservations every day to tie you down.

Time marches on. Eventually you realize it's doing it across your face.

Thanks ladies for all your thoughts! And I can take the best of what both sides have offered...
If I upgrade to the Standard Dining Plan and make reservations at places we normally wouldn't go
that require 2 credits a plate...we wouldn't be tied down every night to a dinner reservation..
allowing some nights on just "winging it" and a few nights of planned dining.
Hmmmm - I think we are on to something!
And even thought I'd love to squeeze up to a moderate resort...I really can't justify
that additional money when there's other things to pay for.
Thank YOU!
If I could swing it, I would move to the moderate resort - but that's because I'm a hotel snob.

MICKEY MAIL

Amy and I are really bad about pre-buying gifts for each other and keeping it a secret till Christmas. She found the Cinderella Castle Christmas Ornament from Hallmark and intended to give it to me when we were in Disney..but...well...she couldn't wait so I have it already
It features Cinderella's castle with a firework display in the background. If you go to the Hallmark site you can watch a video and see it play.
Amy said this will make you cry when you listen to it and as soon as I hit the button and heard the music, I did!
It really brings back that great Disney feeling!
I am still tossing around the idea of upgrading our Free Quick Service to the Standard. I went ahead and made ADR's.
We had so much good food last time we were in The World it was hard not to go back to all the same places!
We want to branch out and keep trying new things so these are all new to us except Kona Cafe.
Amy rated the Kona Cafe as her best meal on our last trip and she wanted to go again.
House of Blues - Dinner - Downtown Disney
50's Prime Time - Lunch - Hollywood Studios
Liberty Tree Tavern - Lunch - Magic Kingdom
Kona Cafe - Lunch - Poly Resort
Sanaa - Dinner - Animal Kingdom Resort/Kidani Village
Rose & Crown - Dinner - Epcot
Such I am the vacation planner and absolutely love to do it...Amy is really good about just going with the flow of what I plan out. So on the rare occasion that she makes a specific request, I try really hard to make it happen. She has only had three requests for this vacation: eat at Kona Cafe again, ride Toy Story Mania (we missed it last time) and do the Wild Africa Trek at Animal Kingdom again. She loved it so much last time and she has a new camera for this trip. I am waiting till later in the season to see if they have any sales on the tickets like they did last year. I realized I never got around to posting the pictures that Disney sends to you after your trip. So here are a few, taken by the Disney Guides.
Here we go!

Mama Rhino after she charged us because her baby got too close to the truck:
Beautiful Giraffe:
Baby Elephant:
Wow awesome pics! And super jealous you're getting to do the Trek TWICE!

Hubby wants to do the trek, but sadly it appears not to be offered during our upcoming trip. Hope we can do it eventually.
I would just upgrade the dining plan.
crazycatperson- I never thought about them not having the Trek. I just checked the Disney website and they have a current $50 off special thru Oct. 26th. That is the last day they have times listed. I wonder if they close the tour for winter. When I have time tomorrow I am going to call Disney and see if they can tell me.
Love those pics!

Good News! I called the Disney Tour Department and Animal Kingdom's Wild Africa Trek is open year around! She said they only have the dates on the computer through Oct. 26th because of the promotion right now but we could book any day by phone.
Awesome news! Glad you're still able to go!

You are going to LOVE the World at Christmas time. My oldest DD and I went the first weekend in December one year and the weather was perfect and the decorations wonderful.
Thanks! We are super excited!
FINAL PAYMENT MADE TODAY
We have our Magic Bands picked out.
Amy has orange and I took red (poison apple red bwhahahaha)
We decided we did not want to put our names on it...
So Amy went with "no capes" (she's an Incredibles fan).
I thought about Magic Mirror but I can't seem to get the combination of letters to fit
so they make sense...so instead it will be
EvlQueen
We plan on arriving on Saturday early afternoon (plane schedules willing),
check in to All Stars Sports. Then off to Downtown Disney for the rest of the day.
We have reservations at Planet Hollywood for 5:45pm.
Sunday will be Hollywood Studios.

Fantasmic! (5:55-6:15p) & Twilight Zone (7-8pm) in the DARK
Monday will be Magic Kingdom.
Fast Pass Selections are Peter Pan (11:25a-12:25p),

looking at renting a boat or bicycle for an hour.
Wednesday will be Disney Animal Kingdom.
Kilimanjaro Safaris (9a-10a),

We will then head to Animal Kingdom Lodge to see
their Christmas Decorations, perhaps stop at the bar
for bread and an adult beverage
Thursday will be Epcot.

the front of the park so we can get them all done
before the Countries open.
Spaceship Earth (9a-10a),
Test Track (10a-11a), Soarin (11a-12p)
We have Rose & Crown Pub reservations at 5:25p

Friday is MVMCP at 4pm.
Saturday we will return home.
I still have one more park pass for either Friday before MVMCP or
Saturday. I don't have airplane tickets yet so it will depend on times, etc.
I almost want to see if I can add one more night and have all day Saturday
and fly home Sunday- but the rates are jumping for return flights on Sunday..
so it's probably going to be a no-go.
So how does it sound so far? Thoughts? Suggestions?
Sounds great.
sounds good
Jessalyn27, we live in Niles, southwest Michigan by Indiana. We are about 4 hours from Detroit
