What? Nooooo! They had better at least keep the cinnamon buns. Not thrilled that it's Starbucks either, I'm not a fan. Now if it were Dunkin Donuts I might be on board.
I am on board with Beca1005 if it were Dunkins coming in it would be much better, at least I could order a coffee in plain english. And those cinnamon buns had better be staying or there will be a mutiny, mutiny I tell you.
I am so excited about this! The thought of finally being able to get a great cup of coffee in the parks is a dream come true. This is a partnership I have hoped for at least two decades. Sadly, they will probably only have Pikes and a Blonde brewing, but I'll be able to get my usual Quad Grande Americano.
They have really done a fantastic job of adding sbux in California and I'm sure that it will go just as well in Florida.

I wonder if the Cinnamon buns at Gaston's are the same as the ones at the Main Street Bakery.
I couldnt eat most of the baked goods but I'm not a fan of this

I don't like it either. I think those in charge could have found a better place to put Starbucks (if they are so inclined) but not Main Street Bakery. It will really stick out like a sore thumb.
It will really stick out like a sore thumb.
Do you really think Disney would allow it to stick out? It will be themed just as well as anything else is. The one in DCA is beautiful. The baristas are even in costumes. I don't think sticking out is going to be an issue.
I don't doubt that Disney will make it blend. The pic of the outside in CA looks nice but why the bakery. There are plenty of places to put it. Put it next to the bakery but don't get rid of it.
I'm with Kristen on this one. I'm glad that I can finally have decent coffee at WDW and inside the theme parks, especially. So I welcome the presence of Starbucks. I just don't want it to look like a typical Starbucks.
I heard about this a while back, and am still wondering how it will be incorporated into the parks. Since it must fit in with the theme and decor, we will just have to wait and see.

The photos of the one from DCA are really nice. Disney knows that themes are what make the "stage" area of the parks so magical, I'm sure they'll keep it proper to the Main Street aesthetic.
Most places only offering instant coffee is one of the biggest food complaints that goes around about Disney. From a business standpoint, the most practical solution for Disney is to make a deal with another corporation like Starbucks to be the (nearly) sole proprietor of brewed coffee in the parks. I think a lot of park goers will be happy about this. I do wonder how this will affect the Joffrey's carts that are around.
Fellow Americans, I hear your tambourines inside my head and that's no lie!
It will be sad to see all those delicious baked goods disappear and I'm sure they could have found another place for Starbucks if they really tried, but thats progress I guess. I get a Starbucks now and then, I'd rather have that then Dunkin, but give me a good Kona any day!
My biggest issue is the total overhaul. Change is a good thing when it's replacing something that isn't working, but it's not like the MSB is lacking for customers! While I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks, I do agree it's far superior to the Nescafe swill! lol! I'm still not sure why they aren't just leaving the bakery as is and serving Starbucks coffee. Change isn't always a good thing....anyone remember "New" Coke? I rest my case.

I like the conspiracy theory that New Coke was a marketing ploy to boost the sales of Coca Cola when they switched back to the "classic" formula.

The sidewalks are so crowded on Main Street anyways especially when people start claiming their parade spots. Can you imagine the crowds plus a line outside of starbucks. You know there will be lines. especially on cold days.
Okay, okay I give and I know that the coffee in Disney is well crappy. I just am with everyone else about the baked goods. MSB is the best. I hope the cinnamon rolls stay.

I am totally pumped for good coffee. I trust Disney on this one. The baked goods will show up somewhere. I wonder if they will have SB coffee in the other parks now too? I have SO wanted one after dinner while walking around the WS....and one to take into Fantasmic.....
The plan is certainly to introduce Starbucks at all the other theme parks and, of course, downtown Disney. My initial suggestion is to replace Starring Roles at DHS.

I could see them using the Writers Stop or even the Kodak Camera Shop on Main Street at DHS. I think Starring Roles is to small, but it does have the outside seating and that would be nice.
I've got mixed feelings on this one. I heard that they were planning on introducing Starbucks to WDWparks a while ago and thought it was a good move, as I like a good cup of coffee now and then(I love SB hot chocolate) But not at the expense of such a popular MK landmark. I know Disney won't let SB mess up the decore and theming, I just hope they only change the hot drinks options to SB and leave all of the other Disney items.
Also I like SB's cinnamon rolls, but they aren't a patch on MSB's mammoth sweet treat.

In the article they put on Facebook about it they said they are putting one in Epcot to... I don't kind them adding Starbucks but I can see why everyone is upset about replacing the bakery with it... I'm interested to see how they do it and I know hubby will be excited
Maybe that's why they moved the cinnamon buns to Gaston's Tavern???
I really want one and was planning on getting it from it's home, Main Street Bakery... But I guess i'll have to go to Gaston's for breakfast. Dangit.

I have Several thoughts on this. . .
Finally a chance to get good coffee and cocoa!! The Nescafe swill was unbearable.
The thought of losing the great Disney Bakery goods is APPALLING!!! They have some serious pastry skills at several of the bakery locations and Disney must KNOW what a pseudo-cult following these treats have.
Perhaps it will be as mentioned in several posts, that the expansion won't replace the entire bakery, but just supplement it.
The reason I tend to this thought is. . . I live in Washington State, ground zero for Starbucks. We have them in our Safeway stores - Yes, Starbucks partnered with Safeway here. Perhaps this is true for other areas or grocery chains?
Anyway. . . These kiosks sell all the coffee drinks but only a LIMITED selection of pastries. When they first opened, I asked one of the baristas about the competing bakery thing. I was told that the contract/agreement addressed it, that there was to be 'no competition' with the Safeway bakery; the Starbucks kiosk only sells items that the larger store bakery does not usually sell in single items. So there are rarely cookies or brownies or donuts or cinnamon rolls, but simply pound cake slices, a single variety of muffin, cake pops. . . Maybe six options on any day.
Just maybe the Main Street Bakery will be run in a similar partnership? Starbucks runs the coffee operation, and Disney keeps control of what has to be a LARGE bakery operation. . . I certainly hope so!!! Love them cinnamon rolls!
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I'm thrilled I'll be able to get my Starbucks fix while I Disney. I always go for the hot chocolate throughout the day and coffee in the morning (only do Dunkin if Starbucks isn't an option) and it's certainly a much needed option to the current Disney coffee and hot chocolate offerings. I'm also pretty sure that the Imagineers will blend it right into Main Street, but it is a shame to replace MSB completely.

My friend and I actually found the coffee decent if you mix it half coffee and half cocoa. Like a makeshift Dunkaccino. Of course, we had just gotten out of college and were used to drinking coffee made from twice used grounds
And in all honesty, I'll be surprised if the name does NOT stay Main Street Bakery. The ice cream parlor, which is sponsored by Eddy's I think, isn't called Eddy's Ice Cream Shoppe or something like that.

Heck yeah im excited about this! I love my Starbucks. We have one right in front of where we live!
I have a feeling the bakery is still going to be around...
In terms of food options, Disney has said that baked goods will be offered at the new Starbucks location. The types of offerings have not been expanded upon much though; Disney stated today that:The Starbucks locations at Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot will both offer the full complement of Starbucks(r) signature beverages, artisan breakfast sandwiches and a wide selection of baked goods, including muffins, scones and specialty treats.
All of the above can be found at Starbucks shops around the country including the artisan breakfast sandwiches and scones. This doesn't give me much hope for finding the treats we have come to love at Main Street Bakery once the remodel is complete.
I wouldnt doubt that Disney would be supply the goods. The almost have to... heres the reason. Starbucks doesnt make there own goods. At least all the ones ive been to. When they are out... they are out. I bet they chose the bakery as the location is that either A... they make their own... or B... its Disneys food. Starbucks in Disney cant afford to bring in their own food on a daily basis. They are going to have to make them.
So I think the name of the Bakery is gonna go bye bye... and it will just change to the name Starbucks. Food will either stay the same... or close to... and you can get your Venti Cappuccino with 2 pumps Vanilla and 2 pumps Hazelnut.

I don't think even that will happen. The one at DCA isn't named Starbucks, even though it was still referred to as the first in-park Starbucks location
The official statement seemed pretty clear that the Main Street Bakery was closing for refurbishment and reopening as a location that sells Starbucks products, not closing all together. Kind of like how even though Test Track is now closed for refurbishment it's still reopening as "Test Track - Sponsored by Chevrolet" instead of "Test Track - Sponsored by GM."
Though even if the name changed to "CHEVY PRESENTS A SUPER COOL CAR RIDE" I'd still go on it. And I feel the same way even if the name of the bakery happens to change.

I havent been there, but I believe they did change the name to Starbucks

Haha, my bad! I had read that it was called Fiddler Cafe or something of the sort. But like I mentioned before, the name doesn't mean much to me anyway. Actual brewed coffee from a recognizable brand will keep a majority park guests happy, which is the goal.
