Make me fall in loe with DHS

So I'm coming up on my third WDW trip and still have failed to be impressed with Hollywood Studios. What am I missing? I find the CM's a bit rude at this park and the only redeeming quality for me is TOT and Rockin rollercoaster. So make me fall in love!

Go to a real Hollywood Studio where they don't even let you past the main gate. Then you'll like DHS again. laugh

Obviously you've never been on Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey back in its heyday. Good times, good times.

My appreciation for MGM (still feel weird calling it HS) comes from the storytelling. Every attraction there is based around a story and show business. Also, I love movies the attractions like the Great Movie Ride and the Art of Disney Animation are great because they pay homage to a lot of the classics from over the years and some cool behind the scenes stuff too. Hope I've motivated you to give it one more shot!

We love the Art Deco period and admiring the architecture and window displays are one of the things we love to do.

So the best thing about DHS is that it's not a fast paced park right now. If the rumors are true and that they are going to refurb the back of the park like Lights! Motor! Action! and Backlot Tour then there will be more to do. The major rides at DHS are Toy Story, Coaster, Tower and Star Tours. Go on the Great Movie Ride, Explore the Magic of Disney Animation (that attraction is so unrated in my opnion), walk through Walts One Man Dream then watch the little film before you leave, watch the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, watch Beauty and the Beast-Live on Stage, I would recommend watching Disney Junior-Live on Stage at least once, go watch Indiana Jones Stunt show and vote at American Idol Experience. Today I spent my day riding Toy Story, Coaster and Tower (those are my must dos). I also spent some time Magic of Disney Animation coloring a couple pictures at the kids table, I met Mr. Incredible and Frozone (Honey wasn't letting Frozone out and they werent' sure if she was going to let him out), I stopped by and said Hi Minnie, I did the little computer game to see which Disney character I was. I watched Beauty and the Beast because I haven't done it in a while. It's okay to take time and watch all or most of the shows that DHS has to offer.

Sorry this is a little long. I just really love DHS. It's my new home.

DHS is my favorite park out of them all! Honestly... I don't find the CM's rude at all. Shoot... one of the CM's there belongs on this board. We always meet up with her down there, and we even hang out with her when she isn't working. Sorry you haven't had a good experience with the CM's.

As for rides... ToT, RR, TM... all of it is cool. Not everything is awesome sauce. The backlot tour is officially dated. The Great Movie Ride is truly dated. Its already been known that DHS will be getting a make over. Whether that is Star Wars, Cars Land, Lord of the Rings... its going to get better.

We really enjoy HS. We love ToT, Rockin Roller coaster and Toy Story Mania but we love the shows too. We always watch Beauty and the Beast, the Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Fantasmic, when it's showing. We even like the Muppets Movie. Some parts of the park definitely need to be revamped and updated but the good parts of HS are VERY good!

Citizens of Hollywood alone are worth the price of admission.

Art of Disney Animation between the art in the building and the art classes we could spend hours there.

It took me a long time to settle on a favorite park. Magic Kingdom with all of its childlike splendor? EPCOT with its cultural mecca and vaguely educational living science labs? Studios and its shows, rides, classes, shopping, etc? Animal Kingdom with its...animals? It was easy for me to determine that AK was my least favorite park and EPCOT comes next because while I love much of this park, it needs some updates. It was almost two years before I decided that MK eclipses DHS for me. I love DHS--and I don't even ride ToT or RnR. I could bounce back and forth between Star Tours and Toy Story all day. I actually still like the backlot tour. I remember being petrified of Catastrophe Canyon when I was a kid and visiting it now gives me the feeling of "I've grown up and conquered many things. This is one of them." I like Lights, Motors, Action and Indiana Jones, stuff blows up--what's not to love? I'm not a fan of GMR, but I try to focus on the scenes that I love and block out the rest. Of all of the parks, Pixar is the most celebrated here. I also love One Man's Dream. I could spend hours in there! Voyage of the Little Mermaid is one of my favorite stage shows. I just generally love Studios, but that doesn't mean that it has to be your cup of tea.

100 percent agree! Love the street entertainers here. I too love the studios. That park has totally grown on me. Great atmosphere.

I miss the Countdown to Fun parade.

The new outdoor area at Brown Derby really looks good. That's on my short list.

I would go to Disney's Hollywood Studios just for Toy Story Mania, but there are several other attractions that I make sure not to miss. However, if it weren't for TSM this would be a once and done park for me.

But I understand your point of view. I could easily skip Animal Kingdom and not feel cheated. We only go there for hubby, who loves the park.

I was surprised that this one wasn't mentioned earlier in the thread! I love watching the Citizens of Hollywood! Other favorites include learning to draw a character at the Animation building, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Muppets, TSM, drinks at the Tune Lounge....love DHS!

I love the art class where you get to draw a Disney Character! I bring empty paper towel rolls to the park to put in my backpack to keep our art safe until we get home.

Great idea, Nancy! I love that class, too, but then I spend the rest of the day paranoid that my drawing will get ruined!

The Animation section, where you get to draw is awesome! And the whole Walt history...I'm a history nerd, so I love it.

The quick service eating is best overall there, I think...Fairfax Fare and the Writer's Stop are fun.

We usually visit on 2 or 3 separate days during our trip depending on the length of the trip, but not always for a whole day each time. If you are planning to do Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones, and Lights, Motors, Action (pending refurb status) and you are visiting on a crowded park day, you may have difficulty doing everything here in one day. I know that for some folks this is a half day park, but I can barely finish all of my favorite attractions in a single day--and I don't ride Tower of Terror OR Rock-n-Roller Coaster.

How many amusement parks have three dentists on-site?

I absolutely LOVE The Citizens of Hollywood. I also love ToT, RnR & Muppet Vision 3D. For me MK & HS are pretty much tied for favorite park, followed by AK with Epcot coming in last. I just don't "get" Epcot but I found changing how I think about it helped. I started viewing it the same way I view _______ festival or taste of ______, basically I now think of Epcot as a place to wander around, look in different & interesting shops & maybe watch some live entertainment. This change of thinking has really helped me find some enjoyment in Epcot other than Journey in to Imagination. Maybe you could try changing the way you think about HS. I also tend to hop, either to another park or Downtown Disney, any day I go to Epcot as I just can't do more than a half or three quarters day at Epcot & still be having a good time so maybe try hopping to another park or Downtown Disney any day you go to HS. However, there's nothing wrong with not liking HS so you may just want to accept that you aren't & may never be a HS lover & spend most of your time in other parks.

I should have probably been a tad more specific! I am thinking about the following attractions in particular:

tower of terror - first thing on agenda upon arriving at park
magic of disney animation
little mermaid
great movie ride
star tours
fantasmic

Yep it is possible to do those in one day! The one of those generally has a wait is Tower of Terror. The rest have a zero wait time. Great Movie Ride sometimes has a long wait in the mornings like 25-30 minutes but wait until later to do it, walk right on.

VelcroPooh

We went for a day and a half, but everything on your list, we did on the full day plus some!

I absolutely loved HS. It's teetering right up there as being my favorite. I am a movie buff though and I love old Hollywood, so it appealed to me very much. Plus TOT and the Rockin Roller Coaster? Oh yeah.....
