Mandara Spa - has anyone been?

On my birthday I've been thinking maybe I deserve a little bit of a pamper, but also have my hair and make up done for my meal out in the evening. (I very VERY rarely go out and dress up for dinner and am absolutely awful at makeup and doing my hair, so I will need professional help, I think!!).

The Senses spa at the Grand Floridian doesn't seem to do hair and make up, so it looks like the Mandara Spa at the Swan and Dolphin might be an idea? Has anyone been?

Or are there other places at Disney where someone can work some real magic on me?

Thanks in advance you brilliant bunch muchlove

I've got nothing helpful, but I like your style! Everyone should be pampered on their birthday!! Smile This is a wonderful plan!! I hope you enjoy your day of pampering and a lovely dinner. Happy early Birthday!

I haven't been at the Swan and Dolphin, but I've heard wonderful things about the Mandara brand overall.

It looks very posh indeed from the photos - certainly beats the pants off where I usually go here in the UK to have my eyebrows done! laugh I'm guessing the bus route must go there since it's an on-property resort?

Yes, I have been. It is very luxurious but very, very expensive. Spa treatments at Disney seem extortionate in price compared to what we pay in the UK. If you have a car, there are hair and beauty salons in the shopping Malls and a great nail bar by Walmart on the 535.

I can't drive, unfortunately. (Failed 5 times!) Would a cab to these places still make it worth it, price wise? Smile

Probably not, unless you were visiting those places anyway. Mears is a good company if you want a day trip out of Disney to Universal or the Shopping Malls. Your options for getting to the Swan/Dolphin are to get a Disney bus there from any of the parks or DTD. If you are in Epcot, then you can exit at International gateway (between France and UK pavilions) and walk or take a boat. There are LOTS of lovely restaurants and bars in the Swan/Dolphin so check them out if you are heading over to the Spa biggrin

Depends on what resort you are staying at and where you are going to. I can tell you that from The Yacht Club to the Poly it's about $15 plus tip for a taxi.

I've never thought about doing the spa while I'm at WDW before, but you've made me consider it. How nice would a massage be after a long day of walking?!!

Oooh I hadn't thought of that! Now that would be nice, a lovely massage, soak in the hot tub, then off for a late dinner! Wink

Oooh - I didn't think of Saratoga! That's an idea, I'd love to take a look as I was hoping to drag my whole family to Disney again soon and it seems like the resort for it!

The website says the spa is closed til Summer 2013, though Sad Maybe next year, right? Wink

Their site doesn't say the do hair and make up - but they must do, right? It's more of a wanting to look my best for my meal out and pampered. It seems a bit silly, I know, but I'd like to have photos of my and the fella of us both looking as fab as possible (tricky, I know!!) laugh

Before the rennovation (I'm not 100% sure since then) the Beauty Salon where they did Hair and Make-Up was located on the second floor of the Grand Floridian's Main Building. I think it's called the Ivy Trellis Salon.

Wait a minute.... Wasn't the Mandara Spa the scene of some unfortunate waxing incident with MrHub and Mase last year?
