Market Research- Parents I'm Looking for Input

Hey Everyone,

I am looking for a bit of insight. In my time down at the parks I really want to make a bit of extra money. I thought of offering my babysitting services to parents vacationing at the resort.

So the question becomes would you use a college program cast member as a babysitter. Would a babysitter who could easily come to any park or hotel be appealing? How much is this worth to you as parents? I want honest opinions. To give background on myself I am CPR and First Aid certified, a babysitting veteran, Flag Football coach and I'm 20 years old. If you guys need any other info or have any questions let me know. I am just throwing a feeler out there and wondering what people think.

thanks very much everyone.

i don't have kids, but i can tell you that the biggest hang up for me would be that you were a guy. i know it sounds bad, but i am weirded out by hiring male babysitters. on the flip side the service itself i would think would be invaluable for some people. i know there are services that provide this in wdw, so that mom and dad can go out to citricos in peace.

Great question, Rico! I voted yes, but you'll have some stiff competition! There are several babysitting services (including Kids Night Out and some sort of "Godmothers" service) that are well-established in Disney World.

Also double check with your supervisors that it's not a conflict of interest to rent yourself out to Disney guests. They might assume you're using your job as a Disney cast member to peddle your wares as a babysitter. Weird...but always a possibility!

I think a guy babysitter would be great -- especially if you have little boys who might be bored with other types of childcare. Laughing out loud

Trying to rack my brain for other kinds of services you could provide in your off hours as well. I haven't got any kiddos.

As long as you were allowed to, I think this would be a great idea. I am not a parent yet, but I know I don't want to take my kids to the nicer restaurants and I would want a romantic evening with my husband. Good luck! It sounds like a great idea!

I think most people who go with their kids just think of that option as unavailable. It would definitely be a plus to be able to get a nice of peace.

I think it's a good idea, but I'd want to see some references, insurance, background check before we head out. I voted "it depends"

As far as the male babysitter, I'd have no problem with that -- especially if you have little boys, as Annie said. I think it'd be fun for them to do something like the Pirate transformation thing at MK with a guy babysitter.
