Marvel Characters At WDW..

Ok..I've checked the search engine for any update on this subject ...I understand the legalities behind this and I believe that DL and Hong Kong Disney are allowed to have the likes of Thor and Captain America for meet and greets...Is there any chance in the future that these superheroes will be allowed in WDW.?...Also would you be for it or not, and where would you suggest.?.
Maybe Thor at Norway at Epcot and Captain America in the America Pavilion..Again if this has been discussed recently, then I do apologise ..

There are rumblings of this happening but I believe for the foreseeable future UNi has the theme park rights to the Marvel universe on the East coast so probably won't happen. There is a new store opening at Downtown Disney Springs and that has had to be branded a "superhero" store.they can't even use the name Marvel for that.

Because of the previous contracts with Sony/Universal they really have to be careful with their marketing and using Marvel Characters in Florida. There has been some recent speculation that Universal will be slowly removing their Marvel rides, and, Disney and Sony have come to some agreements in working together on a future film. But there are many legalities, and big egos in the way of significant change happening. For now, it's best to think that we won't see Marvel at WDW any time soon, but one never knows what the future holds.

A CM told Robyn and me that Universal will lose rights to the Marvel characters in the next year or two. She said Disney has told Universal they want those rights, but they're giving Universal time so they can make their plans, and I would assume also for legal reasons. I can't speak to how accurate this CM's info was, but she seemed pretty certain of it.

I saw a couple Marvel Mickey ear hats at DTD this past January. I'm not a Marvel fan though so I'd be quite happy not seeing those characters at the parks.

I read yesterday that the Dr. Doom ride is being removed this year, and that Hulk is going down for a major renovation later this year that could possibly include a re-theming. Both still speculation, but signs do point to things going on behind the scenes.

Interesting developments. I had feelings that Marvel was probably going to stay in Uni indefinitely given my senses that they probably wouldn't give up the deal. I read something on Theme Park Insider that the Orlando Marvel rights are in perpetuity, meaning that Disney never will be able to secure the rights to use its Marvel characters in Walt Disney World's theme parks until it can convince Universal to give up those rights. I guess Disney may be throwing the kitchen sink for the Marvel characters in Disney World. But at the moment, I just think it's a rumor with no accredited sources. Then again, I thought the Maelstrom to Frozen was just a rumor at first......
