MNSSHP or W&D Half?

DH and I have been trying to decide whether to go to Disney for the Halloween party in October or do the W&D half again in November. We had decided on the Half but then plans came up to visit my parents in Florida in January (so possibly do the half then) and maybe go in February for the Princess. So now we're thinking that since we might get to do a run anyway, maybe we should skip W&D and do MNSSHP.
What do you think? How's the weather in October (we'd go the week of the 17-24)?

Can you go a little bit earlier in October? You could do ToT 10-miler and MNSSHP on the same weekend? ToT is Oct. 3-4. It's 3 miles short, but I suppose you could tack on the 5K that morning.

We did consider that but I'm not sure I want to go that early. It's still too hot at that time and I don't think I'd enjoy the run at all in that case Sad

I haven't done MNSSHP yet, but it sounds like a great time, so if given the choice, I would go with the week in October, especially if you get your run in later in January and/or February. Good reason to put those DVC points to use!! mickey

We've been to Disney the first weekend of October and another time during the last weekend of October. Both times it was quite warm and humid...really no difference...it can vary from year to year but there is always a chance that even mid-to-late October will be 90 degrees and humid.

I say do both. Last year the last MNSSHP was the week of W&D, so if you went early enough in the week, you could do MNSSHP, then W&D that weekend and then if you're really crazy, MVMCP the following week. It's a hard decision, W&D has thus far been my fave half at Disney. The reviews I'm reading of Princess do not have my hopeful that it will top W&D (and you only run through the MK for less than a mile, and then a mile in Epcot! Unlike W&D where you got a lot of park time!). But you know all that b/c you did it last year! Smile

I posted the dates that registration opens for AP holders for the upcoming races, no matter which one you decide to do, have fun and I'll see you there!!

**Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend: Early registration for this event begins Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Noon ET.
**Walt Disney World(r) Marathon Weekend: Early registration for this event begins Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Noon ET.
**Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend: Early registration for this event begins Monday, July 7, 2014 at Noon ET.
**Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend: Early registration for this event begins Tuesday, August 6, 2014 at Noon ET.

If it's too hot, it might be a "fast walk" for me!! laugh I liked it because it's a night race and most of the time my training runs are 8pm or later, so I'm already conditioned to run at that time--and hopefully it will be cool-ish at night???

We run at night too, that's why we liked W&D it's a night race as well. We're thinking about the half in January but it starts at 5:30am yuck

I LOVED MNSSHP so that's my vote! Hallowishes and the Boo to You parade can't be missed! When we were there in Oct 2012 from the 13th-19th, the weather was awesome! It was shorts weather all day long but not unbearably hot, slightly overcast, and only about a 5 min sprinkle of rain on one day our entire trip.

Um. NO. From the girl who ended up in the med tent, not coolish at all. BUT still a fun run, don't let the non-cool, 100% humidity scare you off!!
