Must Do Resort Hopping

For me, no trip to WDW is complete without a trip to the Polynesian resort. Even though I don't usually stay there I always make sure that I stop by for some drinks, shopping and a great meal.

Do you have a resort that you always stop by when in WDW? Is it the one you usually stay at, or do you just enjoy visiting?

We always have to stop by the Poly, regardless.

I love visiting POR, it brings back so many memories of our first ever WDW trip! When we don't stay at AKL we always have to make a trip over to Jambo House too!

We love to stop at the Poly because it is so fun and there are so many tasty things to try! This trip we stopped at AKL for the first time and that was amazing, too!

We have to do monorail loop several times on each trip. We usually have meals planned at Poly or Contemporary every trip and sometimes at the Grand Floridian. We also like to visit AKL because it is so beautiful.

AKL is our favorite. The views and restaurants are awesome! I usually eat at Kona so the poly is on the list. If I'm on the monorail with time to spare we go to the contemporary. This year for xmas im going to try and get to ech resort to see the Xmas displays Santa

Question for you monorail crawling veterans....can I catch the resort monorial at the TTC, or do I have to go to Magic Kingdom or Epcot to get it?

Love Resort hopping, we usually try and resort hop via lots of different types of transport, just because it's fun to check out future places and to ride around WDW that way. Smile

I visited the monorail resorts last year. This year I have a couple of ADRs at different resorts so I can explore more.

I always have to go to the Boardwalk area, preferably at night. Part of that reason though is always to hit up ESPN to see a sporting event.

I have actually never been to the Polynesian. Maybe I should add that to the list for my upcoming trip.

we always resort hop! Even when we stay at our timeshare in February we park
at downtown and either hop the bus someplace or take the boat to the french quarter

We always go to AKL - if we aren't staying there! We also stop in to the Grand Floridian, Poly, and walk the Boardwalk.

As an alternative to the monorail crawl, you could do a boat crawl and add two more stops, FW and WL.

Also given the slower pace of travel, you could make an entire day/evening of it.

We always hop to the Poly, the AKL, and the Boardwalk. We eat at Kona, Sanaa or Boma, and Kouzzina. We've done a monorail crawl before as well. K awesome

We also do the Poly. I have tried to visit each resort at least once so I can say I have been there.

I can't wait to do some resort hopping when we are there in December. We are going out to see the different Christmas trees and all the gingerbread displays.

Wilderness Lodge. I stayed there in 2005. The lobby is on the second floor and features a stone fireplace.

Also, Contemporary Resort. When the monorail goes through the A-frame, the whole floor shakes.

I am so excited to see the monorail go through Contemporary!

We also plan to use the Ft. Wilderness area as a get away from MK when we need a break. A nice walk around to explore the Wilderness Lodge and cabins area, and whatever else we may stumble upon...

Wait hold on..the Poly has DOLE WHIPS? I waited 30+ minutes at Magic Kingdom when I could have just gone to the Poly! I have never resort hopped like this except for a few ADRs because my parents have never really been into it. There's only a few other resorts that I have actually been to.

As Kristen has mentioned, you can get the Dole Whip soft-served ice cream at Captain Cook's. You can build it as tall as you can (yes, you serve your own), but you only have one go at it. However, you cannot get the Dole Whip float that you can get at Adverntureland.

As for the resort I try to visit on each trip, hands down, it is the Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House. It's my most favorite resort, and it has two of my most favorite restaurants: Boma and Jiko.

Resort hopping is all that Jan and I ever did. We had been to every resort in WDW and use ever form of transportation in WDW dozens of times. Always great fun.
