We are going to attend MVMCP this year. I can't seem to find out how the hours at the park work. Do they close down and reopen for the party? Can we go for lunch and the just stay? How do they know who has a ticket and who doesn't? I apologize if I missed another thread on this.

If you are already in the park, then you can stay there. At around 4:00 pm or so (ask Cast Members), there will be wrist-band distribution areas at 2 or 3 different locations at MK. So all you need to do is go to one of these locations, show your MVMCP tickets, and they'll strap a wrist band around your wrist, and that's it!
It works the same way for MNSSHP.

Yup, and then everyone without a wristband gets asked to leave at 7pm. People at restaurants and attractions may ask to see your wristband after that point, and the CMs do a big sweep of the park to remove anyone that doesn't have one.

I concur with all of the above...or you just turn up around 4pm and queue in the MVMCP gate area outside the park (if you're not planning to be at the park all day) - looks the same as the normal gates except there's a big Christmas banner over 5 or so gates.
