My 55th BDay

Hi Everyone!

Taking myself and hubby to Disney for my 55th B Day 9-11.

I like to do something different for my Big B Days, this is our first time to Disney Smile
Can anyone recommend a restaurant for my B Day dinner.
Nothing fancy, no dressing up for this trip it is a four day quickie.
We are staying at Pop Century

likes: steak, comfort food Smile

Thank you, Reader

Hey Reader! Welcome to the boards! And what a great way to celebrate turning 55!

I'm turning 50 in September and wanted steak and no dressy uppy. I decided on Be Our Guest, not necessarily because it is known for its steak, but because it will be new for us and I think a great place to celebrate the big day. But it might be tough getting a reservation this close. That place books way in advance.

Mrhub often recommends the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs for their steak. I'm not sure if that place is a dress up place or not - I don't think so but may want to check.

The Disney Food Blog did a post a few years ago about underrated steak places, which might give you some ideas. Most of the places mentioned aren't dress-up places:

I know it's old and menus might have changed, but might be a starting point. Mase really likes Teppan Edo, and I don't think you could go wrong with Kona Cafe, which might be a fun and different experience for your big day! The Polynesian atmosphere is a great mood setter IMO!

Hope that helps. Let us know what you decide to do.

The steak at BOG was fabulous! Cooked to perfection and they have a very good and reasonably priced bottle of French Champagne you can order there to go with it! Great Birthday venue!

I recommend the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian as well. One of their signature dishes is a New York strip that is out of this world! I've also had good steaks at the Coral Reef in Epcot. Neither place is considered dressy.

Welcome to the forum!

If those don't work out, I've heard several people say Chef's De France in Epcot has a pretty good filet mignon too. Just another option for you.

Hi, Reader and WELCOME!!

What about O'hana in the Polynesian? They come by your table with a big, giant skewer of MEAT and it's super festive. Anything going on at the Polynesian is super festive, though! The Luau at the Poly might be fun, too!

What other foods do you especially like??

Hi Gail and welcome to our blog. We love all things Disney. There are several great places for a great BD celebration. Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club Resort and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge are just a few. Just go on the link that Jeff gave you for Disney Food Blog and you will see what we are talking about. Welcome to the 55 club. I turned 55 in January and I will be going Sep/Oct to celebrate belatedly mine.

Hello Gail and Welcome to WDWForGrownups ! stars

I will second both Kona & the Turf Club. Both have excellent steaks, you could also do the Cali Grill, its not dress up, just nice casual clothing. It should be opening for reservations around the end of August, its under refurb right now.

Hello and Welcome! I also put my vote in for Kona Cafe ... then afterwards you could get a Lapu Lapu (it comes in a pineapple) from the bar and take it down to the Poly beach to watch the evening electrical parade go by!

welcome beach welcome

Hi and welcome

I'll throw my vote in for Kona Cafe, as well. I haven't had their steak but did have lamb chops there our last trip that were out of this world and the environment at the Poly can't be beat!
