Great trip report. I, too, love the "Room with no rules". I'm hoping to take my niece next year. I'd love to have these types of memories with her like you did with your niece.

So the kids have officially been bitten by the Disney bug. They've been asking about going again. I think I'll wait until Liam is a little older next time. Eight seems to be just the right age for all of the rides!
Yes! Brainwash indoctrinate assimilate pique their interest while they're young and they'll be with us forever.

NOooooooooooooooo! Because then they will want to go evertime! You won't have any "Grown up" trips!
Ollie wrote:What a great trip and awesome report!!! May have to try that po'boy. . .AND congrats on the dole whip float! Now you have truly stepped over to the "Disney Side", grasshopper!!
Yep, Ollie. I've got to give it to the float. I had my first ever Dole Whip during last years trip, but I went whip straight up, no float. Now I'll never go back. Float all the way!!!
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

No worries, MrHub....its an every 3 years deal with them! I'll still have plenty of grown up trips.
Loved reading your trip report! It's got me pumped for my upcoming trip!
However, after reading about your UGLY experience at MNSSHP it's got me a little worried about going to the XMAS Party.......!!!!
MsVersaci, I wouldn't worry unless you are going Christmas Week. Our MNNSHP was great the times we went. It all depends on how close you are to the holidays.

Not sure I agree, our kids have grown up at Disney and now that they are teen agers they don't like it anymore. The childhood magic is gone, but the adult appreciation is not developed yet. We are holding out hope though, they'll come back...until then, that's more adult trips for Mike and I, which we absolutely enjoy.

That's the way to think it! Grownups only! Woo Hoo! Sorry people with children, I'm getting carried away.

There's still hope...even if they haven't turned back to the Mickey side by early adulthood, they'll have a kid or three of their own, go to WDW "just for the kids," and next thing you know they'll be asking you to babysit for a week so THEY can take an adults-only trip.

I need an icon for passing out in disbelief! How can they stop liking Disney!?! I have three teens (13,18,19) and mine want to go MORE now that they're older. Maybe they just need a different Disney experience, like California instead of Florida, or a Disney Cruise, Adventures by Disney? There must surely be some way to get them to come to their senses!

Maybe my kids will make you think differently...?

I hate to say my kids are spoiled, but we have dragged them all to Disney 100s and 100s of times since they were little, and they just don't appreciate it anymore b/c they have been there so much. They get excited when they see the parade on tv or a special on WDW, but the older 2, 18 and 16 would rather sleep or be doing something w friends. The little one, 13, still loves Disney and usually goes w us. She's a Disney addict and I hope it lasts. We quit paying for the older 2s passes, but a year later the 16 yr old missed it, so we just got her another pass. They don't want to go when they have passes, but miss it when they can't go. I think Logan (18) is going to buy his own pass now. It's entirely an different appreciation as an adult. I remember going on vacation as a kid, and I liked it a lot, but didn't appreciate it from an adults perspective like I do now. I think the teens are just in between, not little kids but not grown ups yet either, and we go so often, they've seen and done it all many times over.
Kristen, I'm sure they'd love it if they didn't go all the time. We have always told them how lucky they are that it's in our backyard, and that people save for years to come down for a week, but they don't get it. Someday, no doubt, they'll bring their kids and they'll always have all the Disney memories whether they like it or not!

And I think they did
I love my grown up trips now, but I gotta say that I totally get enamoured with kid experiences when I am there. I now find myself tearing up when I watch little ones interact with characters, like in the new Belle story in Fantasyland. I am sure there is a little nostalgia going on there with my own kiddos and Disney memories...but I love to see Walt's magic work on a new crop. Love it. Future members of this board.
