Name Changes For Parks..

Now that Downtown Disney will be referred to as Disney Springs and soon to be Disney Hollywood Studios to be renamed Disney Hollywood Adventures...( hopefully I'm correct here ) What are your thoughts on renaming the parks.?...I know some people still refer to DHS as MGM Studios..My own view on this is as long as they are new things getting added to the parks, or updated..I think Disney Springs is starting to be very interesting with new restaurants like Edison and The Boathouse and shops like the Super Hero ( can't remember it's actual name ) ...Even tho our Disney trips are two yearly events, we always find lots of new things in all the parks..So your thoughts please... awesome

I don't mind the name changes, Disney is Disney to me. I must admit that I still say MGM and will probably continue to say Downtown Disney, not for nostalgic reasons, just because I'm too lazy to think of the new names. I agree with you, just keep adding new things and I'll be happy. Because of the huge volume of return visitors, change is necessary. And I can't wait to see Disney Springs (see, I'm trying to adjust) in January. We always search for something new when we visit, it's like a treasure hunt.

I'll always refer to MGM/Hollywood Studios as Studios and I'll probably always say I'm going 'Downtown' when going to the Springs. We'll always refer and remember them in our own way...

I still refer to Hollywood Studio as MGM, and will probably continue calling Downtown Disney, Downtown Disney. wheelchair

Guess I'll have to visit more often to get used to the new names mickey

As long as it's all fun and wonderful, they can call one park "work" and another park "chores" and another "detention" and I wouldn't care.

awesome

The names don't matter much to me. As much as I type the names (especially because I have to spell them out for clients who have no idea what in the world DHS is supposed to mean), I'd prefer them to be short. wink

Name changes don't bother me. We only go every 7 years so there's ALWAYS something new. Hubby still calls it MGM. If I say Hollywood Studios, he thinks I'm talking about Universal so I have to call it MGM, too. And we both call Downtown Disney Pleasure Island, and we'll probably still call it Pleasure Island when it changes to Disney Springs.

The names do not mean too much to me either. Though I do sometimes find myself saying MGM and then my daughter will correct me. Disney Springs is going to be rougher on me, I think. I have a feeling that will always be Downtown Disney to me.

I think it might always be DTD to me too. It just has a great alliterative ring to it.

In the end I don't care what they're called really.

Since I still refer to the Magic Kingdom as Disney World most of the time, they are all pretty lost on me...

You know, it's no different than sports venues changing their corporate sponsor naming rights. Some people still refer the original name of the arena or stadium regardless. Old name or new name, in terms of how you refer to it, is entirely up to you. I'll still refer to Disney Springs as Downtown Disney and the new name for the Studios as Hollywood Studios since I never went to that park when it was named the MGM Studios.

I don't mind; it just takes some adjusting. I wonder if anyone really referred to Epcot as EPCOT Center or whether everyone just always called it Epcot.

I always just called it EPCOT. But I still call DHD MGM even when typing sometimes and DTD will be DTD for years to come! laugh

My first trip to Disney World was opening weekend in 1971. Then once more in 1990. Then in 1994 we started going again and I have made 65 trips there ever since. I have seen lots of changes and not all for the good. Name changes are just one more thing that Disney's top brass think is a good idea. Don't make no never mind to me!
