Netflix and The Walt Disney Studios Announce Multi-Year Deal / THIS IS HUGE FOLKS!

Quote:
Netflix and The Walt Disney Company today announced a new multi-year licensing agreement that will make Netflix the exclusive U.S. subscription television service for first-run live-action and animated feature films from The Walt Disney Studios.

Beginning with its 2016 theatrically released feature films, new Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios and Disneynature titles will be made available for Netflix members to watch instantly in the pay TV window on multiple platforms, including television, tablets, computers and mobile phones. Also included in the agreement are high-profile Disney direct-to-video new releases, which will be made available on Netflix starting in 2013.

Separately, Disney and Netflix have reached agreement on a multi-year catalog deal that today brings to U.S. Netflix members such beloved Disney movies such as Dumbo, Pocahontas and Alice in Wonderland.

"Disney and Netflix have shared a long and mutually beneficial relationship and this deal will bring to our subscribers, in the first pay TV window, some of the highest-quality, most imaginative family films being made today," said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. "It's a bold leap forward for Internet television and we are incredibly pleased and proud this iconic family brand is teaming with Netflix to make it happen."

"With this cutting-edge agreement, we are thrilled to take our highly valued relationship with Netflix to the next level by adding Disney's premier films to their programming line-up," said Janice Marinelli, President, Disney-ABC Domestic Television. "Netflix continues to meet the demands of its subscribers in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, and we are delighted that they will have much earlier access to our top-quality and entertaining slate," she continued.

OMG OMG OMG!! I searched yesterday upon hearing the announcement and found only the meager offerings they had before (and no Princess and the Frog which was up there but I guess they had removed at some point), but now the following:

The Aristocats
The Rescuers Down Under
The Great Mouse Detective
The Fox and the Hound
The Muppet Movie
Alice in Wonderland (1951)
Nightmare Before Christmas
Pocahontas
James and the Giant Peach
The Tigger Movie

And a bunch of other things! Tuesdays just got a little more magical yay

We have Netflix but I don't really use it very often. The kids do.

I heard many people complaining the were getting tired of Netflix limted streaming. This will likely end some of that. Netflix must beleive this is worthwhile as they paid 3 million dollars for it.

I love it. Im hoping next year they will now be able to be up to date with TV Shows, and add a lot more of their programming on Netflix. They do a great job with Phineas and Ferb. Hoping that trend can continue and continue even better.

As far as shows go, I'm hoping for the Muppet Show to be available at some point soon. I know it would be like the Saturday Night Live episodes where some scenes need to be cut out for copyright reasons, but it's still worth putting on!

Somebody help me quick. I had things to do today. I spent far to much of it watching the new Disney things already up there. With only more to come, it is quite exciting.
