Nightime Shows

Call me crazy, but out of all the years we have spent at Disney we have never stay late enough to see any of the nighttime parades/firework shows. We always go early and stay til we drop and go back to the pool. Due to all the tips I have read in the forum, we are planning an afternoon nap and returning for Disney at night! clapping So excited, I've never seen Disney at night.

Anyway, so what I'm wondering is....Do any of you have a decent spot to watch either Wishes at MK or Illumination at Epcot that is not too crowded and doesn't require lining up hours in advance? Also, is the Electrical Parade and Wishes done together or are they seperate shows?

For Wishes, we like to be right around the bridge to Tomorrowland on the Main Street end. Another one of my favorite spots in between Pooh and Scuttle's Landing. It's a really different perspective.

For Illuminations, depending on the wind, we like to be on the bridge between France and UK, along the rail in front of Canada, or between Mexico and Norway along the rail. Remember, try not to have lagoon obstructions in your way. If you can see all the barges, you're good.

Disney at night time is the best time. The Electrical Parade and Wishes are seperate shows but normally back to back starting an hour apart depending on schedule times.

The only one we have seen is Illuminations and to be honest with you I wasn't that impressed with it. We said we were going to see all of them last year but were always tired out by the time they started. Hopefully we will get to see Wishes and Fantasmic next year.

I saw Illuminations for the first time last year and we were around Mexico and had a good view. The year before we stayed (well sort of) for Wishes. We started making our exit. I watched some of it near the beginning of Main Street while my friends went in to one of the gift shops. Then we headed out to catch the bus and were able to see the fireworks from there.

Seriously?? Wow! Nighttime is my favorite time at Disney Parks! (Well, except AK because all the animals are asleep Sad )

WDW has THE best parade ever (and it needs to go back to Disneyland!): Main Street Electrical Parade. SOOOO good.

Fantasmic!is an incredible show. Story, music, overall show, just a great show to see!

Illuminations: To be fair, I've only seen it once and it was in the pouring rain, but it was good and I look forward to seeing it again.

And Disney fireworks? Well, they are always good.

I agree with the above statement. I love fireworks and great music so Wishes and Fantasmic are my favorites. I don't often stick around for illuminations. I usually see the fireworks as I walk away from the world showcase.
As far as the original post...night time is awesome. Seeing all the lights, it's like two different parks literally night and day Smile
Take that power nap and head back to a park and look for Tinkerbell to kick off Wishes Smile

We have seen Wishes.... just from Fantasy Land. Just saw the fireworks pretty much. So the music wasnt making much sense to use. We saw Illuminations last year, and I personally wasnt impressed with it. The ball out in the water was cool, and the fire and explosions, but over all id rather had been walking out of the park.

I think all of the parks come alive at night. The atmosphere is completely different to during the day, especially at Christmas with all of the extra lighting.

Love the parks at night! muchlove muchlove muchlove muchlove

Wishes is amazing, and if you've never seen it in front of the castle, you HAVE to! I still cry every time I see it!

Fantasmic is my favorite night time show, however. I just love the music and the movies they highlight are the ones I grew up with so I can sing along.

I've never really been a huge fan of Illuminations...I'd rather spend my last few minutes in Epcot eating and drinking. ...and maybe riding Maelstom. A lot of people really like it, but I could do without it.

We got to MK as the electrical parade was starting... so we walked towards tomorrowland and found a great spot! As you're walking before you get to the wishes dessert party, there are some steps that go down into a "smoking area" but it was completly empty.. we were able to get a table and some chairs and had a PERFECT view of the fireworks... and no one was smoking either...

I have a few spots I like for Wishes, but I doubt some would still work with the Fantasyland expansion, so I'll leave those out. But I like right in front of Crystal Palace, and also from the rose garden. Neither are directly in front of the castle but they're close, and are very good views.

Illuminations I actually like right at the front of World Showcase, between the gift shops, but further back by the second set of railings, if that makes sense.

I love the parks at night! I'm a huge fan of Fantasmic - get there early for seats!

I'm actually not huge fan of Illuminations at all but my husband loves it. We usually watch it from near England. For Wishes we always get a spot around Casey's...we can see the fireworks pretty well.
