Silver lining: You've all got a bunch of antibodies now, so nobody's getting sick for a while I hope!
I'll be thinking of you and CJ as they figure out what's going on... Pain without figuring out the true cause is awful!
Also, glad to hear MiL's lesion is shrinking!!
Yes, I was hoping for that silver lining! The whole story (for anyone who is interested) with CJ:
2 weeks ago he had severe pain back/side pain - went to the ER, did a CT scan, saw
nothing. Well, he had a kidney stone floating in his kidney but because
it wasn't in the tubes, it was decided that the stone could not have
caused his pain. They did find a mass on his left kidney but he has
known about a kidney cyst since 1997, he just never followed up with
it. They gave him pain meds and told him to follow up with family doc.
Pain never returned that bad. Went to family doc. He scheduled a CT scan
with contrast for the following Tuesday. In the meantime, over that
weekend (a Saturday) he urinated blood. Went to the ER, they tested him
for a urinary tract infection, said he was starting one - gave him
antibiotics and sent him home. He only peed blood for about a day.
That Sun. or Monday he swore he felt something travel through his penis and he says he is sure he passed something.
The CT scan with contrast on the following Tuesday showed the 'mass' and
because they couldn't be certain just what it was, they scheduled an
MRI for that Friday. Also, the stone that was found floating around in
his kidney on the normal CT scan was not there.
Had the MRI and then followed up with a urologist. Urologist was concerned because she
said the contrast from the CT scan went into this mass and that is a
sign of cancer. However, when she looked at the plain CT scan she
noticed calcium build up around it and so it was confirmed that the
contrast was absorbed by the calcium. So now it's been decided he has a
complex cyst on his left kidney and they found a very small simple cyst
on his right kidney. However, she wants to scope his bladder to look
inside because she is concerned about him peeing blood. So of course
his mom is all worried about bladder cancer because her dad had that -
and was treated and is fine. However, even CJ said they saw nothing in
his bladder with the 2 CT scans and the MRI so why scope him?
He feels he had a kidney stone. He had pain in his lower back/side area.
The stone was floating in his kidney. He had more pain that traveled to
the groin area. He urinated blood. He then felt as though he passed
something. CT scan with contrast did not show a stone. Did he pass it?
Is that why he peed blood and had the pain?
In the meantime, what is up with the cyst? The complex cyst on his left kidney, do I
need to worry about this cyst? They want him to have another scan in
3-6 moths to see if it changes.
STRESS!!!!!
