bali - Good idea re the parasailing! I'll have to ask them if that's possible. And I will definitely be getting a drink at the Tambu. Good to know I can get it "to go".

Annie - Thanks for the info on Cali Grill. I'm an early diner anyway, so 5 would be perfect.

That's probably a really good tip. There are probably a lot of the more expensive restaurants, that would be nice to see, but you don't want to spend the money. Go have an appetizer and a drink there.

I think so, too. Thanks Annie, for checking that out.

I'm now voting for parasailing with a big, rum-filled pineapple.

I think you should totally do a movie night. Either on the beach or at Fort Wilderness. Seems like a really interesting activity to try Solo. It will either be lots of fun or miserable!

How do I find out about movies? What beach are they shown on? What time? What kinds of movies? (Yeah, I know, "Disney", but are we talking Bambi or something a bit more interesting? No offense to Bambi fans.)

There's a link in the Disney Outdoor Movie Schedule thread! A pretty wide variety, but mostly kid oriented I'd say. But I like the Pixar movies in particular.

Thank you, Brad! There are definitely some movies I would prefer over others (Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc are some I love and could watch over and over again). I guess I'll just hope one of those is playing while I'm there.

That's correct! SoloFriendly said she'd "consider" our itinerary suggestions!

She's going May 5-12, staying at CSR, and won't ride anything that will make her throw up (so Mission:Space is out). Oh yeah, it's a solo trip!

Go go go!

Mission:Space is soooo not out! I'm still trying to figure out why they include air-sickness bags! I got all worked up about it, but I'm glad I took everyones advice and rode it! We both loved it and didn't feel any dizziness or sickness...

I think overestimating the motion-sickness and claustrophobia aspects of Mission:Space is part of the fun! By the time they were done warning me I was seriously concerned and nervous I was going to hurl and embarrass myself. Wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.

The warnings are definitely the worst part. Every five feet they're telling you you're going to get sick.

So, SoloFriendly--what's the verdict on Mission Space? Is it a definite no?

If I do Mission Space at all, I'll be on the green team.

Something else that might be good for your trip planning is a list of rides that have single rider lines. Do you have one (or is there one out there?)?

Also, not sure if you're into this, but the Grand Floridian has a nice little afternoon tea that they do. It's quiet, relaxing, and cheaper than a massage! awesome

Oh yes, I have that list. Single Rider lines are the greatest things ever for solo travelers. It's a pretty small list of attractions that have one, unfortunately.

Where is that list? I'd like to bring it along on the trip.

Single rider lines:

Test Track
Expedition Everest
Rock N Rollercoaster

Like I said, short list.

Update: I have booked horseback riding at Fort Wilderness and Parasailing at the Contemporary! Woo! yay I decided to skip the massage and just relax by the pool instead.

I spoke with a guy at Sammy Duvall's (the parasailing place) and he said the weight minimum was actually 120 (the website says 130); I fluctuate between 110-115, though some scales will say I am 120, so we went ahead and booked. He said if I don't weigh enough and he has a staff member available to go up with me, we'll do that. Otherwise, we'll see what the weather is like that day. There's still a chance I won't be able to go up. I totally understand the safety issues involved, but can't figure out why they don't use weight belts or anything like that to add to your weight. (I even asked about that. No reason, they just don't.) And if it's really windy that day, and no staff member is available to go up with me, I won't be able to go up (the stronger the wind, the more you must weigh).

Keep your fingers crossed, everyone.

Thanks! That seems really strange that there are only 3...

And I think you should sneak a weight belt on under your clothes. They'll just weigh you and never know. wink

Hope it works out, but try not to blow away in the wind.

Also be sure to eat a bunch before you go. We never have any problem gaining 10ish lbs on a WDW trip!

Good point, dsoup! I booked the parasailing for my last full day, so by then, I will have eaten my way around WDW and should easily have put on a few pounds (provided I don't walk them off in the parks)!

Oh, don't even get me started on people who use scooters when they're perfectly capable of walking.....

Well. Scratch parasailing off my list. I was just at Sammy Duvall's website, and it says:

"We require at least 130 lbs. and no more than 330 lbs. total weight in the parachute.
"

I only weigh 115. sad

It goes on to say:

"If a flier is under the minimum requirement, he or she may accompany another
child or adult to reach the minimum weight."

Which is all fine and well if you're traveling with someone, but if you're not, I guess you're SOL.

Do you have any open slots left or is your trip all filled up?

It's pretty full, but if you've got a suggestion I like better than something I'm already planning to do, I'd certainly consider it.

One of my favorite things to do at WDW is people watch and there are some great places, primarily in the resorts to watch them.

Try the little bar across from Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. There is always so much activity going on in there and usually some nice people. Also, doue to the layout of the bar, you can be right in the middle of the hotel activity, then move 15 feet in and not even know the rest of the world exists.

I'll tell you one other activity that is kind of nice. Since we're Old Key West DVC members, we usually take the pontoon from Conch Flats to Downtown Disney. It's a nice little ride for something different and provides some great picture opportunities as you are cruising toward Downtown.

I'd leave one of the parks and take the bus to OKW, then the boat to Downtown. From there you can catch transportation to wherever you want to go.

Interesting you should say that, Mousetraveler. One of my most vivid (and favorite) memories from my last trip was taking the boat from POFQ to DTD. It was my first night in FL, having left subzero temperatures in VT and the air just smelled so earthy and fresh and it was warm (I still had to wear a sweatjacket, but compared to VT, it was warm). It was really lovely.

Both good ideas. Outer Rim Lounge is a fun place to hang out (and was recently refurbished I think...). And that boat to DTD is so nice and relaxing--when it's not crowded!
