Oh No...Narcoossee's Blah Review...

Phew!...I've just read today's review of the above restaurant on Easywdw.com..( why do I read these reviews ) Anyway,it doesn't exactly make great reading..I was going to pick this restaurant on our first week to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, but i think it's time to abandon ship and sail elsewhere..I don't mind paying $200 + for a signature experience, but based on what was said it's time to readdress my ADR... sad

Hold the phone...That's $200 for three including starters,wine,etc..But since you keep $1500 in your wallet, it should be a walk in the park...LOL.. waiting

I've eaten there before and it was amazing. Food was excellent, service was great, and great views!

I saw the review and Narcoossee's is on my list for my trip in September. I think I still want to try it. I have looked at the reviews on all ears and most were good. Maybe it was just an off night. I was going to check the food blog and see what they said when they reviewed it.

I agree. No restaurant is perfect and I'm sure even the Michelin star or absolute best restaurants get bad reviews every once in a while. For me, when it comes to deciding a restaurant in general, I look at trends and what the majority say. If it's overwhelming good reviews and the trend is maintaining at a high level (At least 4 stars on Yelp and/or Google reviews. If not 4, then at least higher than 3.6, like a 3.7-3.9 stars out of 5.), then I'll more likely dine there if I really want to and if I can afford it. I guess Disney's "fine dining" or Narcoossee's does not suit the author's palate and tastes.

Disney Food Blog viewed Narcoossee's more favorably and I think since DFB obviously puts more emphasis on food, then they have a different POV compared to someone who has a general all-things-covered Disney World site. But I mean, I took DFB's advice and went to Tangierine Cafe, Flame Tree BBQ and Sunshine Seasons all for the first time on my last trip and did not regret it. Plus their opinions, generally speaking, match the consensus opinions of the Disney World fanbase from what I get.

I LOVED our experience at Narcoosee's. We sat at the bar, actually and our service was fantastic. Our food was wonderful, our drinks were delicious. We didn't spend $200, either...I'm sure we could have, but I think it was $140ish?

Anyway, I'd eat there again in a heartbeat.

Agree with all your positive answers...What I like, others may not, when it comes to food...My friend took his wife to a 5 star fish restaurant and they shared " A Symphony of Seafood " It had lobster, crab, salmon, sole, scallops, sea bream,New Zealand green mussels,etc...She hated everything...What really put me off was the fact that kids were running around Narcoossee's with their tablets.. eek My pet hate at Disney...Mobiles...I attended a funeral last week, and during the service inside the church, twice people's mobiles went off...

Boy King Fergus...I couldn't agree with you more. When it comes to Disney I know it is primarily for the young and those of us still young at heart but when you go to a high end restaurant you don't want to see or hear children running all around. Because when my children were young we never allowed them to act that way at any restaurant.
And funerals..what can I say. Maybe they need to collect the phones when you first walk in. It is very sad. I guess it is the sign of the times we live in. sad

I don't remember young children eating there when we dined. The atmosphere is upscale, semi-formal(ish), and fairly pricey. It has that "romantic vibe" going on....I wouldn't expect a ton of kids, but at Disney, you never know. You could always asked to be moved away from any distractions? The food is great and it is totally worth eating at!

When it comes to restaurants, I've never stopped with just one review. A have also found that I trust the aggregate of reviews at TripAdvisor, even with Disney locations.

TripAdvisor's Narcoossee Reviews

Judging from their page, I would go in a heartbeat. (And it is definitely on my 'Need To Do' list)

Narcoossee's is amazing! Fergus don't start judging a place on 1 bad review or you might as well stop going out to dinner anywhere. Everyplace gets bad reviews at one time or another. We just had a waiter from the Flying Fish telling us how awful The California Grill is since it's reopening, and we were just there 4 nights before and had a fantastic meal!

Here was our meal from July at Narcoossee's:

That looks incredible MrHub.I also agree one bad review makes not a place bad. There was another review of Narcoooooosesssess (sp) on "the site wich shall not be named" which also gave it rave reviews and the pictures were just as drool inducing.

Agree with both of you...But my DS really wants to have his birthday meal at Jiko...I want to have a ultimate steak dinner and have picked Shula's..and my DW wants to eat at Artist Point since we are staying at WL and has her eye on their signature dish of Salmon...
