OKW or SSR

Since all other DVC resorts are sold out, I have to do one night in a studio at either OKW or SSR in December. I'll probably land at about 5 drop off my bags and spend that night at DTD. Then the next morning I'll probably have my bags shipped over to the Beach Club for the balance of my stay. I've stayed at SSR a couple of times, never at OKW.

Where would you choose to spend that first night and why?

I like staying new places, so I'd do OKW.

I've stayed at OKW, never at SSR. If you're concerned about OKW, don't be, it's a lovely resort. But if you're spending arrival night at DTD, SSR might be the better choice because it's closer.

OKW only because it is cheap on points. We MUCH prefer SSR though. As much as we would rather stay at SSR over OKW, I am a points hoarder, so we will stay at OKW more often, if BWV and the Value rooms at AKL are not available.

Since it is only 1 night, and I am a fan of trying new resorts, go with OKW. It's a way to stay in a Studio that feels different, because it is not the typical DVC Studio shape.

The Beach Club wait list came through yesterday so no issue. And today my wait list for a Boardwalk View in Sept came through. Pixie dust does it again!

It depends on if you are going by yourself or with your family. I prefer OKW if there are more of us sleeping in the room (e.g., either two people who each want a bed, or 4 adults). OKW has two beds, while SSR has one bed and one sofa-bed. I do not like the sofa-beds (for most of the resorts) because I find them to be bad on my back.

If you are traveling alone, then stay at SSR because it is closer to Downtown Disney and you can walk there more easily assuming your room is relatively close to the edge near Downtown Disney (otherwise, I would still take the bus). Either way, you can take the bus from either resort to Downtown Disney very quickly, so go with whichever one you have not stayed at before (if the bed issue is not a factor).
