Olympics at Disney

Hello all! I just wanted to see if anyone here had ever been to Disney during the Olympics and ask if they do anything special. I saw the post that the Dolphin was doing something but I'm more interested if the parks, specifically Epcot, do anything special. I was there at the end of the last world cup and there was lots of merchandise but not much else. I am a huge fan of the olympics and I think it will be a neat experience to be there during the games. I'm also hoping that there will be places (other than ESPN Zone) to watch the games. If anyone knows anything, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Can't help you there Meg, never really saw anything regarding the Olympics in WDW, not that they don't, but I don't recall anything at any time.

i was there when the Olympics were in Athens and there was nothing special going on then, but there is no Greece in Epcot, i would not be surprised if England had shirts or something

I'm looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight. Would be even more fun to watch it in Disney but alas, I have 81 more days!

Why does it seem that waiting this time is more painful then previous times? waiting waiting waiting

I know what ya mean. Its never been this bad... and this will be our 4th in 4 years. When we bought into DVC... I honestly thought by now id be wanting to visit other places like Universal, or Busch... or just chill... but I'm itching even more to get back into the parks! I just don't know what it is this year. Don't know since the forum is much busier now, or what...

rolling rolling rolling I forgot all about that "World ending in December " bit. Whew! Glad we're getting to go again before that. Maybe we will use that as our celebration theme in November, then if it doesn't end, we can use that as the reason we are there in January! awesome biggrin

Maybe I'm weird (at least around here), but WDW is NOT where I want to be during the Olympics. I plan the entire 17-plus days so I can catch as much TV coverage as possible. And that would not be possible at WDW - or if it were, why would I pay WDW prices to sit in my room watching TV?

Maybe not watch it in your room... but with a group of people?

I know I enjoy going to Blue Jacket gatherings at pubs and what not. I go for the wings, and the crowd. I know I have a better TV, and chair at home... but with a bunch of people with the similar interest makes it like your there at the game.

Maybe Disney isn't the place... but if your already there, and you wanna watch some Women Soccer, Or Swimming... you at least know where you can go to check out the coverage.
