The one with the marathon!

Our trip has begun! This time we are driving down with my parents ( we being Erik and I ). My parents rent a house every January. They stay all month but sadly we fly home January 11. We are in the house January 2 then Erik and I check into Bay Lake Tower on the 7th and 8th then move to all star sports on the 9th until the 11th. We have dinners planned for Sweet Tomatoes, Chef Mickeys and breakfast at Trails End. January 8 I will be running the Walt Disney World marathon. I'm nervous, excited, terrified, nervous, terrified eek it's my first ever marathon! The longest I got in my training was 23 miles. Due to bad weather and poor road conditions, I missed my 26 mile run sad I ended up doing 13 miles on the treadmill ( I hate the dreadmill!).

We left yesterday and stayed in Toronto. Up early this morning to start the drive. There was no line at the border awesome we drove right up, the officer was nice and before we knew it, we were in the USA biggrin we stopped for a Cinnabon then had lunch at McDonald's. In Canada they have a double Big Mac which Erik loves but they don't sell them in the states. He was very happy to see that they now have a Grand Mac laugh not quite the same as the double but still good ( and big!). They also had a Mac Jr. Which was cool!
We are now stopped for the night in Beckley, WV. We're taking our time driving as we don't get the rental house until Monday.

Thanks everyone!

Today we made it to Kingsland, GA. Drive was good, only light rain. Pretty foggy first thing this morning but it cleared up quick. Traffic got pretty backed up around Walterboro, SC due to an accident. However, the accident was on the other side of the highway! I can't believe how backed up our side got because of rubber neckers waiting
Anyway, we just finished an amazing dinner at Cracker Barrell and are now walking over to Baskins Robbins for dessert! Tomorrow we arrive in Florida yay

Made it to Florida yesterday! The place were staying at is pretty nice. Be better if it was on property though Wink
We stopped at the international dr outlet mall to check the Disney outlet. Complete madness! Cars parked on the grass, cars just randomly stop in the lanes to just sit and wait for a spot to open. Crazy. My parents just dropped us off then waited in a bus parking spot. After that we checked in to our condo and hit Publix. I love Publix muchlove then we had dinner and headed out for a 3 mile run.

Today we are starting off with a 6 mile run ( only one 3 miler left before the marathon eek ). Then we're hitting Target and probably taking a nap laugh

On a side note, I just saw this on the parks blog and I NEED it! Comes out this year so hopefully February or October I can find it crossfingers

Yesterday we hit the outlet on Vineland and it was crazy too! Luckily this time we had taken a shuttle so no need to find a parking spot ( my dad was picking us up after golf). Didn't find much at the Disney outlet here either. I was really hoping to see some of the Christmas stuff I'd been eyeing in October but I guess we're too early. I did get a new pair of running shoes at Nike though.
After shopping we stopped at publix and then came home for supper. We just lounged around last night and went for a walk. I love vacation!

Went to the expo today to pick up my race packet. I always find going to the expo suddenly makes the race real! I also picked up my race sleeves for my Orange Bird costume mickey the expo was pretty decent crowd wise today. Nobody in line for bib pick up. I saw pics from yesterday and it was crazy! Apparently it was about 1-2 hour wait for bib pick up eek

After the expo we had dinner at Sweet Tomatoes. So good and so filling.

We are! Currently weather for Sunday is sunny and a high of 13C. I'm so happy about that laugh I was worried it'd be hot and humid which I hate running in. Cold is better in this case biggrin

Went to Disney Springs today. We didn't really do much, just wandered some shops and picked up our tickets at guest relations. Then we came back, had dinner and relaxed. Tomorrow Erik and I check into Bay Lake Tower yay

The half marathon is officially cancelled tomorrow sad I'm only doing the full so it doesn't affect me but I'm bummed for everyone who was registered, especially the Goofy and Dopey runners.
It's been cancelled due to a thunderstorm that's working its way here. It's fine now but supposed to hit overnight and early morning. It's a bummer but safety is more important.

When I first read the news story I thought it said the marathon was cancelled and I was so sad for you! Happy to hear your race is relatively unaffected. Hope everything went smoothly for you this morning.

Honestly, I'm jealous of the half marathoners. So many of them got together and had their own half marathon at different resorts. It was amazing! They still receive their medals so they were earning them on their own awesome

What a great idea! Turn a bummer into a positive!
