One too many changes for me!

I'm sure that there will be many that will think the changes WDW makes are just fine. And that's OK. For me the big change from Downtown Disney to Disney Springs was "The Straw That Broke The Camels Back". Almost all the wonderful memories I have of Jan and I there are gone. It has changed so much that I didn't even know it. It's just me. I don't expect most of you to understand and that's OK. The Disney magic for me is over.
You guys have been the greatest.
Thanks Mr. Hub for the memories you preserved for me.
Joe

Oh no Joe! That's so sad to hear. The changes at Disney Springs are indeed pretty extensive, and the new sections do bring a completely different feeling to the area.

Sorry to hear this Joe but I totally understand were you are coming from. When we were there last, I turned around and didn't even know where I was for a second. Its not the laid back easy going type of place anymore. You made those memories, I just put them all in one place and added some music, but you are welcome my friend. Don't be a stranger around here though.

I did spend 3 great days with my dear friend Vettlover and his bride. They are two lovely folks.

How about posting that photo you texted me Joe, and it really was a great three days. And don't say the magic is over Joe, it will ALWAYS be there.

It's great to see you looking happy Subvetss, and posting occasionally. I think I detect a little magic in that photo - it can't all be gone. wink

I understand where you're coming from, Joe. I hope you'll still stay in touch here on the forum and look for new magic wherever you can find it. If you haven't tried it and it's an option for you, I highly recommend Disneyland. Changes are still happening there, but they happen more slowly. The SoCal residents really push back when Disney tries to change too much. It's not as grand as WDW, but to me, it feels like home.

I have to agree with subvetts on Disney Springs, I was disappointed when we visited. I fully understand that updating and refurbishment is a part of keeping business relevant. Pleasure island and the Disney marketplace needed to be updated, however DS is missing something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's just not as fun. It's as if they removed 90% of the former shops & clubs, then went back & put a shop, restaurant, or kiosk in every available spot, nook and cranny. I'm sure part of my opinion is that I was in my twenties when Pleasure Island was built and spent more than my fair share of evenings there. In my opinion the Adventurers Club was the perfect blend of animatronics, live performance, theme and booze I've ever experienced.
It's obvious that Disney has spent a great deal of money in DS and it's not going anywhere soon. Jock Lindsey's is the most like the old Pleasure island to me. I certainly understand your feelings about the changes at WDW, I too felt the way you do now, a few years ago. The loss of Horizons, original world of motion, Mr. Toad, adventurers club etc. etc. made me sad. However I've come to accept that things at WDW will inevitably change. Some changes will be for the better and some for the worse. But at the end of the day there is only one WDW, and if going there makes you happy that's all that really matters.
