I've always called before, but I'd like to try booking online.
Having tried both I have to say there was nothing at all wrong with the online version, and it got me what I wanted. However that being said I still prefer the interaction of a real disney voice at the other end. The internet just can not be as friendly as a person can be. Of course you can always hit an unfriendly voice as well but that is not the norm.
I haven't been to Disney since the change, but I've looked at the online system and think I'll really like booking online for "standard" disney dining experiences. However, if there are special occasions, I imagine I'll still prefer to book over the phone to get extra confirmation that everything's in the system. I know that's not necessary, but I'm weird like that.
I really liked booking online for the last minute changes and updates to the dining reservations. Also, disney sends confirmation numbers directly to your email, which is very nice. No need to remember where you wrote them all down!

I think that now that the glitches have been worked out with the online system(and there WERE glitches at the beginning), booking on-line shouldn't be a problem now.
In spite of that though, I still prefer to call. I like to get that confirmation from a human being that my request has been completed.
An interesting thing about the various ways to book ADRs. On-line booking, booking by phone via Disney Dining and booking online through DVC Member Services all begin at different times in the morning. For instance, I can make ADRs for my January trip this Sunday, and I can book on-line starting at 6AM, I can call Disney Dining at 7, but I can't call DVC Member Services till 9.

I had no idea there was such a difference. But I'm appreciative of the information. Online ADRs open at 6? Good to know.

I always call to make our ADR's. I think it is easier if I have to change something based on not getting something else. I have however added a last minute ADR on line.

Yeah there's a lot of contingency planning that seems easier on the phone. Maybe it's just because I'm used to the phone though. I haven't tried out the online stuff that much.

I both agree and disagree -- if you get a GREAT cast member on the phone, it's much easier to do the ADRs there. If you get someone that doesn't know quite as much about the system or the restaurants, it can be an uphill battle. I love when I get a CM who's clearly a "WDW fan!"
