I started growing the beard in 1971. After a year of growth I cut some back for about 5 years. Then I went into my own business and trimmed it to the way it is now but never cut it off.
In the picture with me standing next to Jan's Land Rover we were just getting ready to leave for the concert in the picture.
Now that sounds like a great concert. Love the "pose" by the LR, Joe!
It was a great concert that was 12 hours but turned into a 3 day party.
AND NOW....... BACK TO DISNEY!!

Hey Joe you are right about that lady jumping out of Jan's way. If that photo had been taken from the opposite direction you would have been able to see the look of sheer terror on that lady's face. 
What position did she qualify in for the race, I think she could give Mark Martin a run for his money :>) By the way if she wants that chair to REALLY move, drag racing is my sport of choice,I figure a 500 ci motor with about 800 hp and LOOK OUT!!

No I didn't, but I loved going to concerts. I have always been a musician and like music of all kinds. Even went to Woodstock in 69. It was only 5 miles down the road from where I was raised. Classic rock and roll from the late 60s to mid 70s is my thing.
I even like Disney music.

Best show I would have to say was James Taylor in Palm Beach, Fl. He had Just released the album Sweet Baby James around 1971. ( Remember I'm old!)

I've always wanted to have a nice, full beard (what I like to call the woodsman beard) but it could hinder upward mobility in my work. Though I can have facial hair, I deal with vendors and government officials so that might not go over too well.
I love that picture of speedway Jan! My grandma used to be a terror when she'd get on one of those things (usually only at Walmart). We laugh about it to this day, because she would come tearing around corners and knock over displays...and don't let someone get between her and where she wanted to go.
Back to Disney...

When I asked Jan, without any hesitation, she answered Pop Century. We just like the whole family, laid back, simple atmosphere of the place. Jan and I are just simple country folks and simple things appeal to us. To each his own. Often we would get a coffee, sit outside and just watch the young families enjoying the thrill of being in Disney World.
This December we will be staying at All Star Music. Pop Century was booked full for Fl. resident rates. We have stayed there twice before and it is very nice but Pop is our first choice.

I think Pop Century is definitely the best value. December is probably hard for Florida rates.

When we stayed at Ft. Wilderness, for the most part, it was a family thing. All our kids and grand kids and my brother with his family were there. In the evenings , when the grand kids were old enough, we old folks would all gather around our campsites and the younger ones would hop a buss to who knows where. Disney was a safe place. We sometimes watched movies at the outdoor theater but not often. At pop Century there are no beaches.

I meant to mention on this: You can go to any of the other resorts and watch the movies and do the other activities there.
Also, did you ever check out the duck races at Wilderness Lodge?
Remember! We are getting up there in years. When we get back to our resort about 9 or 10 PM, after a long day of traveling around, we are pretty worn out. Have a little snack at the food court then head up to our room. In an average stay at WDW we are there about 6 nights. We try to get to every resort during that time and always Downtown Disney a few times. That doesn't leave much time for other activities. It's the way we love to do Disney. Bus rides, Boat rides and Monorail rides. It's great and time consuming given that we stop to eat during our adventures. Hey!! were' weird, what can I say.

In our travels we tried a boat ride to the new Tree House boat landing. Also Jan from the deck of a tree house.

Was this one of the refurbished Tree Houses on your recent trip? What did you think of those?

They are not just refurbished but built new from the ground up. They are quite nice but we didn't get to go inside. It's a very secluded area but frequent buss' through all the roads.

These are my first glimpses at the new treehouses -- very cool! Looks like there's no problem getting the scooter back there either. Do the treehouses have lifts/elevators?
Just a few have a long ramp for handicap.
As a side note: In Ft. Wilderness they removed almost all the underbrush for some reason and at the Tree Houses they took great care not to disturb any of the underbrush. Go figure.

Wow, I love those. I'm leaning towards AKL/AKV or the treehouses for our next trip.
From the information I was given about them, the Tree Houses are for the Vacation club use. If there are any not taken they might be available for rent but the waiting list is very, very long.

Good info. Thanks, Joe. I can only imagine how long that list is, as the Treehouses are so newly "out of retirement."
I'm planning on renting DVC points for our next trip. Thanks for the info about the waiting list, I'll have to start looking into that soon.
Lets see!! Where to next? I know! Caribbean beach Resort. That's a fun place to hang out and grab a quick bite.
First a walk down the food court isle, then sit down and eat and next go for a swim.
Life is good in WDW.

pool?! (I can't tell if this photo is pre- or post- pool refurb.)
I've always wanted to mail a coconut back home, but haven't yet had the chance.
