Port Orleans FrenchQuater

Well I'm still banging out the TR, and it was a lot packed into 5 1/2 days. So we're already talking about going back for a more slow paced trip. We want to stay in a moderate resort just because we might actually be in it this time, and we were both thinking POR or POFQ (forgot that the first post). I couldn't find a direct topic, so i apologize for repost, but what does everyone think of it. Also if there is one of the moderate reosrts someone thinks is tops, feel free to jump in.

Frankly I'd love to do Poly, if I ever get one or two promotions at my job. laugh

I love POR -- both riverside and french quarter! The only difference to ME is the theme. Just pick whichever theme you like better.

But I have to day, I'm a big fan of Coronado Springs Resort. It has queen beds (which I LOVE) and a snazzier finish overall. There's a great pool, and a huge hot tub, too...

I love POFQ. I've stayed there many times and love the New Orleans feel. I think it's a romantic resort or moderate and I really enjoy the food court there. I rotate between here and CB, but will be staying at POFQ in August.

The POR Alligator Bayou is really fun, but a lot of folks prefer the French Quarter (I've lived in cities a lot, so I don't like the city feel of it).

I also really do love the queen beds of the Coronado Springs. The other moderates have double beds.

POR is our FAVORITE resort in all of WDW. Full disclosure...I have not stayed in any of the Deluxe resorts, but have eaten dinner at many of them.

That said, I don't think any surpass POR in charm. The grounds are so lush...usually we are rushing to get to the pool, the restaurants, the gift shop...do yourself a favor and take it SLOWWWW...enjoy the walk, the landscaping is just beautiful, it truly can be part of a delightful stay.

Our preferred building is Magnolia Terrace, closer to the pool, but Oak Manor is nice also, closer to the restaurant and gift shop.

I think Port Orleans is the one resort that I haven't stayed in that I would really like to. My expectations may be high, but it has theme elements that reflect a lot of things I enjoy and it's priced reasonably!

Go for it Dsoup...you won't be disappointed. My preference is POR, I love the lush grounds and the great pool. POR pool has a lot of shade, whereas POFQ is right out there in the sun...unbearable in the summer months IMO.

I promise you if I stay in either place I'll have beignets more than once! I always regret that we can't get over there more often for a good powered sugar covering. laugh

I love love POR. I've always wanted to stay at POFQ because it's a bit smaller than POR and therefore you don't have to walk so much laugh

I would say pick the theme you like the best. I like taking the photo tours on allearsnet.com to see which one I like the best. They are both really great. The Mansions in POR are fantastic..we've stayed in those both times..we've never done Alligator Bayou.

I think all the moderates are pretty good value. The proximity to all that powdered sugar makes POFQ particularly appealing. wink

I stayed in Alligator Bayou several years ago and really enjoyed it! The "log cabin" theme to the rooms is really cozy. I didn't love the grounds on that side of the resort, because they felt "swampy" to me. I can see how Millie would LOVE the Magnolia Terrace grounds -- they are lovely!

Also, POR has one of my favorite food courts, and those beignets at POFQ are delicious!
