Prime Rib removed from buffet restaurants

As I've reported on my flog -- Food. Drink. Other stuff. -- Disney has done away with prime rib in buffet service restaurants such as Boma. Instead, whole strip loins will be sliced and served.
The executive chef told me it was done for quality purposes: people at buffets want only a sliver, a sample, and prime rib is meant to be cut into bigger slabs. Still, you can't help wondering if there's another reason -- strip loins cost less than prime rib.
Prime rib will still be available at various full-service restaurant throughout the World.

Sometimes I wonder why Disney even HAS a party line.

Thanks for the info, Scott. I'm just wondering why people only want a "sample" of prime rib!

I think typically at a place like Boma you're trying to try a little of everything. I never have room for everything I want to eat there.

Where else in WDW has Prime Rib?

As I mentioned in my post, WDW still sells over 400,000 pounds of prime rib annually at full-service restaurants such as Olivia's, Boatwright's and Captain's Grill.

I don't have one restaurant in the World that I can recommend for prime rib. Sorry. I'd love to hear where others might think that place would be!

I do believe I had a lovely prime rib at Cinderella's Royal Table last year! Then again--that might have just been the excitement of being in the castle... Wink

I've actually enjoyed the food there too. Fun place to eat actually. They looked at us funny when we "passed" on our pic with Cinderella.
