The process that happens BEFORE a magical week in Sept

Not sure this will bother anyone, but we will be off the "grid" for a few days as today begins our move to our permanent digs. We knew when the house sold six months ago that this stop was temporary, but now we are leaving our community and many dear friends to begin the new part of our live as "retired" so we can be closer to family, our artistic endeavors, and well, other dear friends. sad

So for the next month, we are creating a new home, finishing the pit for a musical with friends back in our former home area, finishing teaching summer school (in our former home area), and then crashing in August. We are already discovering that retirement doesn't make you less busy, just busy in a different way confused BUT Sept brings DISNEY for a 7 days with dear friends with whom we share our artistic passions, and some beer passions ( silly )

We are excited about this forward step (no lawn and the spare room is DISNEY), but sad to leave behind so many good, kind people. Here's to smooth (albeit hard) moving with NO drama or unexpected distractions.

See you soon.

Old Tink (Lori in real life)

Well, we thought we could fit it al in a truck advertized for a 4 bedroom house, but apparently it was a tree house. We have another 14' today and will finish up the actually moving. Some things are where they need to be, but the maintenance dude will be here Monday to fix some items of importance (ie the dryer that doesn't dry....). I feel like I am living in a whirlwind, but boy, do I sleep at night. DH wasn't happy that we needed to go out for breakfast two mornings since i couldn't find the coffee filters and THAT is how I start my day.

Today we say goodbye to our church, sad, but this week is pit rehearsal and the three day celebration of my father's 80.5 birthday. (When your family is all old, you don't go for Feb parties). In addition, four members of our Chilean family are arriving on Tuesday AND my mother wants a family portrait on Friday, so I need to do something with my face so people don't think my mother is my sister (we all have some interesting bags under eyes).

I check in here for a pick me up, but still have A LOT to do!

Best to all!

Lori

LOL, DH wasn't happy because I needed the coffee! silly silly Even our son commented that he had never seen me drink that many cups to start a day.

Well, we are here. Not sure where it all is, or where I can put it all yet, but we live here now and that is the first major start. My DH laughed when bringing up boxes as one is marked DISNEY TRIP (not Disney - meaning not the other bedroom). He looked at me in rather a bemused way and asked what was the difference. I explained that this trip is special and as such I have started putting items away for the trip and I don't want to lose them. sigh I might have anyway because it is now piled in the Disney room under everything else.......

VICTORY! Found the box AND got the room all put together. I think it needs valences, but DH says it sure doesn't need anymore "Stuff". It is a wee bit full, but it's DISNEY!!!! awesome

Brace yourself - you asked for it. Sorry it's early morning and the resolution is darker, but I will try to explain....
1)The first is a picture I cross-stitched for DH almost 30 yrs ago! I guess I knew something was in our future.
2) This is the headboard of the bed with matching pillows AND with all the stuffed animals that my students gave me over the years from their trips or even hits to thrift stores. There are also the 4 world prints framed that I picked up about 10 yrs ago on one of the school choir trips.
3) A number of Christmas's ago I picked up a recycled poster from Mickey's Philharmagic for hubby for a present. Since he's in music, it seemed fun.
4) Another shelf for yet more stuffed characters, a banner a student came across and my bulletin board covered in Tinkerbell fabric. Missing are my three lanyards of pins (I know I am an amatuer to some of you in this).
5)

Sorry, hit wrong button

5) Another wall that will also have my sew machine under it. There is the cross stitch again.
6) The cross stitch I made for when my son was born over 28 yrs ago.

What you don't see under the bed characters in my grandmother's antique quilt top made in the early to mid 60's. My DM gave it to me and since it is a small red pattern, I backed it with royal blue and put Mickey buttons all around the edge.

I need to pick up some matching fabric to the headboard and make some small valances for the window to finish off the colors. The smalls at the top of the room walls, are Boyd's guardian bears that are all named after mythology figures. These were in my classroom since I taught Mythology for almost 30 yrs and so they are special to me.
