It's interesting. I've gotten up to mid 16s, but it just gets exponentially harder. When you first play you think "I got 12 seconds, I can get 18 with just a bit more practice." 30 minutes later you're still at it.

I have yet to beat this. 
I find that I have one good game in me per session and then I might as well go take a break and come back later, I just get worse and worse.
