The Reimagining of Spaceship Earth

Are you concerned about the changes coming to Spaceship Earth with the reimagining of Future World? While it was mentioned that there would be some pretty significant changes made, they kind of just glossed over it at the D23 convention when the announcements were made.

What we know is the following:

1. "the journey will be transformed with new scenes reflecting the universal nature of the human experience. A new guide and all new narration will focus on the storytelling that brings people together."

2. The emphasis on storytelling will be achieved by focusing the ride on a new feature known as the "story light" which will "come to life" and guide guests through each show scene. Some of the show scenes will remain the same, but it's pretty clear that others will be replaced.

I can see the reimagining of Spaceship Earth of being great, but then I think about the travesty of Imagination's ride. I hope that they don't cheap this out. I hope that they put in the time and effort to create a new journey that is worthy of a Disney attraction. I'm just not 100% sure that I believe they will. What do you think?

I'm cautiously optimistic. I love Spaceship Earth and I think it is overdue for an update but I really hope it is done well.

I'm still traumatized from what they did to Journey into Imagination, so I'm suspicious of any changes.

I'll be fine with it as long as they don't add any IP to it. The parks are being IP'd to death, but that's another story.

When they played the brief video at D23 I thought that the "story light" looked like Grandma Tala's ghostly stingray from Moana. However - haven't seen any reference to that analogy in articles since. It could have very well just been my imagination.
