renting dvc points?

Hello all,

I've been reading the boards for a while but this is my first post. I've always been a disney fan but just went for the first time sept 2010 for my 30th bday with my fiance. Our disney vacation seriously rocked my socks off...I LOVED IT.

We are planning another and would love to stay in an epcot area resort, but after pricing I think that would only be possible if we rented DVC points. Was just wondering if any of you do this (it seems like it takes a bit of trust between parties...which is a bit scary)

We stayed at POFQ last time and really loved it....I love the idea of walking to epcot (our fav resort)

advice?

We've done it before. The couple we rented them from was very nice and well-known so I don't know if that does much to lower your fear about the general trustworthiness of the process. I do think it takes some trust, but I also think there are some "point renters" out there who have a good reputation and you might talk to them.

Also welcome to the boards!

Renting points is a good idea. Were DVC owners and love our points personally... but I know one day we will probably rent out some of our points. My only advice is just get enough points for you to go. Its not much advice, but try to get it all from one person, rather than 20 here, 30 there and so on.

Thanks for the tip! I checked out the site and it seems reputable. My trip is not for a while so be sure to post your co-workers experience dealing with them!

Lizzy_B- my favorite part? well we got engaged while we were there so I'd be in trouble if I didn't say that (hehe)....he proposed in Morocco in Epcot (with Aladdin and Jasmine my favs)

I really loved it all! I was probably most surprised by the food. We ate some really excellent meals at nice places (we had the dinning plan free since we went in sept)....my only experience with theme park food before that was at Canada's wonderland (not good).

My fav restaurants were we made ADRs at O'hana, Narcossee, Boatwrights, Boma, Le cellier and Liberty tree and really enjoyed all of them....for next time I'm torn whether to revisit or try new places

What a GREAT story, Petriedish! I love the Morocco Pavilion. It is just stunning! Those are all such great food choices. I can see your conundrum.

Yay!! I got engaged in Epcot as well..but in the United Kingdom! Welcome to the club!!!

We've rented DVC points before..we rented them from a friend of ours who had some extra points to rent. We saved a lot of money by renting points..we stayed at OKW for a week during the summer & I think we paid about $400 for a studio..which was an amazing deal.

I've looked into renting again..but renting from a stranger makes me nervous..but I am sure there are many great renters out there!

I was checking out the site suggested by mrhub and it seems pretty reputable. They sell the points for $13, I've seen $12 other places but I think a quality 3rd party company would be safer and worth the marginally higher price.
