Richard Hammonds - Top Gear

The 'Stig' related comments in that other thread reminded me of something.

I'm reading Richard Hammonds book about when he had the wreck in the jet powered car back in '06. He was bounced around pretty well and suffered serious head, brain and eye injuries.

If you like Top Gear, you might want to check it out. I'm just to the part where we're about three days past the accident, but I've thorougly enjoyed it so far. It is well written and gives you a really good insight into how the show is produced, as well as the true friendship between Jeremy, James & Richard.

On an unrelated Top Gear note, I saw James May on Gordon Ramsay's F Word the other day and he beat Gordon in their challenge.

Great suggestion. Thanks. Very interested in that relationship between the three; you can tell there's a chemistry of some sort.

Hammond's wife in the book talks about what great friends they are in real life, and how they rushed to his side in the hospital.

Actually, the BBC moved just about the entire production crew to the hospital.

I got the book on Amazon. Its about 15 dollars or so.

We watched the one last night where they've each got a giant big rig that they're taking through various competitions. Had us laughing out loud at points. There was another one on that I think MT had mentioned where they were going to America but they had to "not be entertaining" because their visa was for making a documentary. Sadly I didn't have the capacity to stay up to watch it. sad

One of the funniest things about the show is the snide comments they make about stereotypical America. Always makes me laugh.

Yeah, I believe thats the one where they take the muscle cars from somewhere in California to the Bonneville Salt Flats.

One of my other favorites is the one where they're trying to get from somewhere in Europe (Switzerland I think), to Blackpool in England on one tank of gas. They're the special guests to turn on the annual light show or something.

If you get a chance watch 'Interstate Road Trip'. Thats the Miami to New Orleans in a thousand dollar car. They get challenges along the way and the part in the deep south where they get to paint sayings on each others cars is classic.
