Riverside or French Quarter?

So because of some unforeseen expenses, dog plus surgery equals less money for Disney trip, I need some advice. We were going to stay at WL but have decided to go with a moderate resort instead to save a little cash. It has been 15 years since we have stayed at French Quarter and even longer since we stayed at Riverside (it was Dixie Landings back than). If you had a choice which would you pick?

I have stayed in both but I prefer POFQ. It is smaller and more intimate, quiet and they are the first bus stop between the two resorts. I have to admit I wasn't too thrilled with Sassagoula Flatworks for meals (mostly breakfast) so we took the boat to Riverside to eat at Riverside Mill Food Court.

I've never stayed at POFQ so I can't compare the two, however we stayed at Riverside in 2012 and LOVED it mickey

FQ hands down in my opinion. It is much more quaint and only has one bus stop. Every time I have stayed there, we did not share buses with Riverside, so its hop on the bus and go. Plus, I find the atmosphere to be romantic and I love the size of the resort. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with POFQ! Ps. The beignets are AWESOME!

I have stayed at both and I love them both. POR is a much bigger resort with a seat down restaurant and 4 bus stops. I always stay at Magnolia Terrace which is by the quiet pool and not much of a walk to the Main building and restaurant. POFQ is a smaller resort with no seat down restaurant and only has 1 bus stop. I always stay in building 5 which is near the main builing, pool and boat dock. The nice feature about these resorts is the boat ride to downtown disney. And as far as how far away you are from any of the parks you not far at all. 10 minutes by bus to MK and Epcot and 15 minutes to Disney Hollywood, Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney (unless you take that boat and it is 15 minutes but a very nice relaxing ride).
POFQ is just what it implies a New Orleans flair and POR is more southern hospitality. To me anyway. Can you tell I love them both? laugh

I'd go with FQ just because I'm from the south so though i LOVE the look of the mansion buildings, the decor and overall scheme of things is pretty ho hum with me. FQ looks much more interesting!!

Riverside! The layout is so beautiful with all the rivers running through it. More amenities, etc.

I really enjoy them both, but FQ is so small and quaint, that I prefer that one!! I like the pool better at POR though. Can't go wrong either way. Don't forget FQ has beignets!!

Really? I was just reading on another site that FQ has the best counter service restaurant of any resort CS. Of course FQ doesn't have a TS place.

I like the way there is a connection. While I am not into running or even walking for the sake of exercise while at Disney, the running/walking loop makes DS2 happy (although he has to do it a couple times).

I suppose different folk have different views..RS food court is twice the size and a far bigger selection of food..My opinion only.

Both have been renovated so the rooms are just beautiful. We stayed at FQ right after new renovation and it was wonderful! Beds are very comfortable. Feels like sleeping on a cloud. My fave is Riverside but DH loves French Quarter because it is small and quaint. I adore the lush gardens at Riverside. Their Food Court has a better variety than FQ. We did find that the bus wait at FQ was a lot less than RS. Probably because there is only one stop and much smaller resort. You can't go wrong with either one. I prefer RS because I love the beauty of the mansions.

We would hands down pick FQ based on the bus lines alone. Every night the line to get on the bus was maybe 20 people TOPS. The line for RS was 50+. Resort was small so when your feet are screaming at the end of the day you don't have to walk far.
