Room requests at POR

This Sunday is our fastpass + and online check-in day! We're almost at the 60 day mark! yay mickey

We're staying at Port Orleans Riverside and I'm looking for some tips on what room requests to make. I'm torn between Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou, so pretty happy to leave the choice up to fate, but I know making certain room requests (near to an elevator, corner room etc) might guarantee us one building over another.

Our room is a Garden View one, and we don't have a problem with walking, but would prefer a quieter room. Oh, and I love The Princess and the Frog to an excessive degree, if that helps at all.

Any tips?

Thanks,

OMG 65 days to go!

Lauren

Well our three stays were all at the Mansion buildings..Twice at Parterre Place and once at Magnolia..Loved them all..We were lucky to get a river view at PP on our second stay, tho we never requested any building or rooms..

I have yet to stay there but from the pictures, I personally would prefer the Alligator Bayou rooms because they have a more "rustic" feel to them and I love Louis. But on the other hand, Alligator Bayou rooms do not have an elevator so if you are on the second story you will need to walk up stairs. To me that is ok because I am young and do a lot of walking anyways around the parks so its not so bad but its someone were older or had a wheelchair it would be hard on them.

I have watched a room walkthrough videos on the rooms. The Mansions have the more "fancy" southern look to them. They don't seem a whole lot of princess in the frog, but in the headboards there is images of the Princess and the Frog included Charlotte and her father.

I think the over excessive Princess and the Frog rooms are the Royal Rooms which look AMAZING!!! But they are also quite a bit more expensive, and personally, (although I am a big Disney child myself) I probably wouldn't stay in one of these unless I had children and could see the look on their face. To me it plays on the kids a lot. But how amazing is the light up headboards on the bed! WHAT!!! I would be playing with that like the entire night!

The only other tip I have heard, and I have heard it a lot, is to ask to be near a bus stop. This is a HUGE property, they do have multiple bus stops but sometimes it seems like you can be pretty far from one, or so I have heard. I have been asking lots of questions about this resort as it is my #2 pick for staying in 2016 for my honeymoon. My #1 is Wilderness Lodge but it may not be affordable. So you will definitely have to tell us how POR was! And what room you end up getting and I am requesting pictures as well! lol

FutureMrsHurst, I think we agree that the Alligator Bayou rooms look a bit more fun as they're more rustic. We've booked a Garden View room, which might be almost anywhere, so I think I might just request a second or highest floor corner room and leave it up to chance. We both love walking so staying far from a bus stop or the main resort is not a big deal. When we stayed at AoA, we were right up the back in the Little Mermaid section and found the walk through the resort quite pleasant.

JMed, it is getting closer, but still feels so far away! I'm hoping it might feel more real once I complete online check-in this weekend. I ordered new Crocs for the parks today, so that got me a bit excited! mickey

Never requested a certain bldg before here on any of our trips to POR. Have requested corner rooms because it seems to be a little larger with double windows. Never been disappointed with any of the rooms.

Yeah, I was thinking of going for a corner room. Thanks!

We've stayed in the Mansions (Acadian) and Alligator Bayou and if we were to stay there again, we would choose the Bayou due to its more scenic setting and quiet surroundings. We loved building 39 as it was close to the West bus depot and the North bus depot so we could walk to either and it was also close to the bridge to walk across to the food court. We had a main floor corner room and loved it.

We stayed at Magnolia Bend, but the name of the building escapes me--Oak something maybe? I felt like it was the most centrally located between the two nearest bus stops and the quiet pool. It was right beside the bridge to the main building. I don't really thing that you can go wrong at this resort.

Thank you lovely people. I think I might request a corner room and hope we get one in the Bayou for the quiet surroundings. I'm getting so excited as this resort looks so pretty!

Just to add to what Jan said...

We had a bad experience in the mansions that put us off of them. We were staying in one of the mansions at the same time a large Brazilian tour group was staying at POR. Guess where Disney puts them? The mansions. We had teenagers up at 3 am running in and out of the rooms beside us and slamming doors etc. Also, many of them loitering around in the "hallways" outside the room and some leaned against our door.

I went the next morning and asked to be moved somewhere quiet and the CM gladly moved us to Alligator Bayou which was MUCH better. Why they put is in a room in a building full of tour group in the first place I still don't know and the CM was a bit surprised also.

Anyway, we don't worry about these things at the deluxe resorts. But the Bayou at POR is definitely really nice.

That's good to know, thanks. Although I am interested in the Bayou rooms, I'm going to hold off and leave building choice up to fate I think. Though I am going to request a corner room for sure. Will let you guys know in my TR what we end up with! Smile

Definitely! We always take a million pictures but DH's camera wasn't working properly in DLP so we might need to invest in a new camera before the trip. Or take a million iphone photos. Either way, photos will be taken. The trip report is half the fun of going for me haha! silly
