Rumor: Changes to Disney Allowed Scooter Companies

I found this information on another website. It's just rumor right now, but has widespread implications so I thought I would share it. In the past many scooter companies have had the ability to drop off a scooter so it was waiting for a guest upon arrival. It appears that soon they will only accept delivery from approved scooter companies. If your scooter company is not on the approved list they will still able to deliver it to you at WDW, but it must be a face to face hand off and paperwork signing. They will also not be able to store the scooter.

"Starting November 1, Disney will only allow approved companies to drop off or pick up scooters at the Bell Stand or Front Desk." The list of scooter rental places approved has not been announced."

"To be clear, Disney cast members will not assist with the rental process by temporarily storing scooters from Walker Mobility or other "unapproved" vendors."

This affects our trip at the beginning of December. We are getting ready to rent a scooter for my mother-in-law to use during our trip.

Can you tell me where I should look for this information? I guess I will need to wait until the approved list is released.

Here is a direct link to their story, I'm not sure what their source was.

Perhaps if you called your hotel and asked? I'll check with the Bell Staff here at Art of Animation today and see what they know about it. I'm not sure what time we'll be back from the parks tonight though.

We called down to Disney this morning and the only one the CM knew was Buena Vista. The article you linked had more information but I don't know where the information came from. We are going to wait until November 1st and hopefully be able to find the official list. The linked info said that Apple was one of the approved but I don't really care for their website. It doesn't have information on what their service is if you have a problem with the scooter while in the parks. I am really interested in the companies service if something were to go wrong while in the park during the day. My in-laws have the worst track record in this area! gaah

Kristen, Thanks for all your valuable help and info!! awesome

You're welcome, I wish that I had more to offer. The guys I talked to today didn't really know anything.
