This has been the craziest week ever, but I'm leaving in about 6 hours!! yay yay I should really go to sleep, I know, but I knew I wouldn't be able to post anything right before I left. laugh

Also as if I wasn't excited enough, I just found out today that I got the promotion I had interviewed for last week (as well as a small but slightly significant raise)!! I was afraid I was going to have the stress of waiting to find out on my shoulders while there, but they told me a little earlier than they were supposed to since they knew I was going on vacation! YEAH! Guess who's going to be wearing a button all week saying I'm celebrating a promotion to a job I've been working my way toward for three years!!! yay

I've been working on the TR, but I started my new position yesterday so work has kept me quite busy!

I will preface everything by saying that I really ended up loving MyMagic+, especially FP+. Everything worked out splendidly for us on that front. Also, everything I ate down there was delicious! I didn't eat nearly as much as I thought I was going to, or even as much as I wanted to, but I tried a lot of new things and was very impressed.

I've still been super busy with work (which is going pretty great so far, but this coming week is going to be a true test of my patience. Please keep me in your thoughts!), buuuuuuut I have wrangled up enough free time to work on this! So here's part 1!! yay

Day 1: A Very Rainy Arrival Day and Let's See How Wet We Can Get At Magic Kingdom!

We left home about 5 AM Sunday morning, for a mostly uneventful (albeit partly foggy and rainy) drive down. We arrived at Pop Century a little before noon. We checked in (with an absolutely lovely CM, Jenelle!!) and luckily, our room was ready!! So we parked, grabbed our stuff and headed up to our room. Unfortunately it was POURING at this point and we kinda got lost going around all the pathways to get to our room (in the 60's section, in building 4). I don't remember what all I requested during online check in, but I know I said I wanted the 60's building, facing away from the pool and the top floor. The only thing we didn't get is the top floor, but we were on the second to top, so I can't complain!! Even though our building was right next to the big Hippy Dippy Pool, we were facing away from it, so it was incredibly quiet where we were, and we had a pretty nice view of the courtyard/Hourglass Lake from outside our door. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture, oops!

We quickly threw our stuff in the room and got settled in a little before we headed out to the Magic Kingdom for the day! We took the bus over, which was surprisingly crowded for it already being so late in the day? Nothing too terrible, though. We finally got to MK about 1:45 or so, and the skies cleared up just enough for us to get a fantastic look at the castle.

My initial plan was for us to get lunch at Columbia Harbour House and ride Haunted Mansion before our FP+ for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad expired at 2:25, but considering how tight we already were on time and we weren't really super hungry yet, we skipped lunch. We did ride HM, though, and what a great first attraction of the day to start with!! We then went over to Frontierland, rode BTMRR, and then it was time for our Splash Mountain FP+ directly after. Splash had been down when we first walked by, but it was running again by this point!! Luckily, as it then started storming pretty much immediately after we got off so they had to close it down again. Now, I had never ridden Splash before as the only other time I've been down to WDW was in February so it was down for a refurb, but OH. MY. GOD. I love this attraction so much. SO MUCH. I think it's now definitely my favorite attraction in all of WDW. It's amazing.

So thanks to FP+ (which I really do love!!), we hit three of my first day must-do attractions within the span of an hour. In the middle of the day. On a day where easyWDW had MK as his least recommended park (Night of Joy was the two nights before, so the park had closed earlier). I was feeling pretty good about this day!! Unfortunately right after we got off Splash it was time for Festival of Fantasy, but the heavens opened up and it really started POURING, as well as lightning, so for a little bit, most of the major outdoor attractions were closed and Festival of Fantasy was canceled. We ducked into Pirates to get out of the rain and figured a 20 minute wait wasn't terrible if it meant not getting even more drenched. Once we rode Pirates, we were finally ready to eat. But we didn't want Pecos Bill's. So off we went in the middle of a downpour to Columbia Harbour House. I got the lobster roll and chips, and Sandi got the clam chowder. I've heard nothing but good things about CHH in the past, but even still our meals were surprisingly delicious. The lobster roll had a fantastic flavor to it, and while I didn't think the clam chowder was as good as my own, it was still really good. Sandi also got a lemon iced tea slush or something that she became pretty obsessed with.

After we sat around for a few extra minutes to wait out the rain a bit longer, we decided to brave Fantasyland. Also in my head known as "Stroller Hell." We did Small World and Philharmagic even though they had lengthier than normal waits, BUT at least the queues were inside!! Also Philharmagic was going down the next day for refurb, so we HAD to do it. Small World was fine as usual. I love it and the song a lot, but it's still only like a once a trip thing for me. Philharmagic, however, I had never seen before and was really impressed with! Super funny and the 3D is EXTREMELY well done. I absolutely loved it.

At this point I don't really remember what time it was or what all we did? But anyway at some point it was time for our FP+ for SEVEN DWARFS MINE TRAIN!!!!! Which I was kind of apprehensive about leading up to this trip for one reason or another. I was afraid the seats would be uncomfortable, or worse, that I wouldn't fit at all. I knew it wasn't ~thrilling, but I had seen people say they weren't impressed with it much at all. These apprehensions were quickly put to rest when I found the ride to be much more comfortable than expected (still not the most comfortable ride, but I think people were making much ado about nothing), AND while it isn't a thrill ride, it is super fun and SUPER adorable. My sister and I basically squeed and cooed all throughout the mining portion of the ride with the Dwarfs. Especially going up the big hill!! I just ended up loving it way more than I thought I would. It's a fantastic attraction.

After the Mine Train, I know we did the Carrousel, Winnie The Pooh, and Under The Sea. I think Mad Tea Party was mixed in there too? At some point we went back to Adventureland for the Jungle Cruise (with a skipper who was fantastic, but I can't remember her name!), Magic Carpets of Aladdin (which we both decided is the best spinner!), and Enchanted Tiki Room. Everything was super fun and we were having an absolute blast. I think after all of that, we finally hit Tomorrowland. We rode Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and the TTA Peoplemover! My sister decided the Peoplemover is boring, I told her that was kind of the point (I LOVE the TTA!!). At this point it was edging up on 9 PM, so we decided we'd see the Electrical Parade as we wandered over to Frontierland to ride Splash (and maybe Big Thunder?) one more time. As we made our way over, however, they announced that due to weather (it was still raining), MSEP was canceled for the evening. I was bummed, BUT I didn't feel bad at all about heading over to ride Splash and BTMRR one more time. Splash was so empty at that point we got an entire log to ourselves!

Once we rode those two again, we decided to make our way to Main Street for Celebrate the Magic and Wishes!. Oh, we also got super hungry at one point around 8:30 and tried going into Pinnochio's, but they had already stopped serving for the day. So when we got to Main Street, we went in Casey's where I got some corn dog nuggets. O M G those things are so good. I love mini corn dogs anyway, but these really hit the spot. If only my cup of "plastic cheese" hadn't fallen out and made a big mess all over the sidewalk. Oops! This was the first time I ever actually stopped to watch Wishes! and it was absolutely fantastic. It was such a perfect way to end our first night there.

We then made the long walk to the buses for the long ride "home" where we promptly crashed for the night, as the next day was EPCOT DAY!!!

Highlights: Doing pretty much every attraction at MK that was on my "must do" list! Oh, and also ARRIVING!!!
Lowlights: The rain, even though it helped cool things down and clear people out of the park a little, was still kind of annoying.

Some more pics from the day:

The super safe "take a picture of the arch while driving!!!" picture!

And there's a few more here!

You've never ridden Splash or Phillharmagic? Splash is my absolute favorite ride and Phillharmagic is easily my favorite 3D so I'm so glad you remedied that this trip. Wasn't the lobster roll fantastic? I had it a few days before you did for my first time ever and it was soooo yummy! Great TR so far!
