Saving for Souvenir Spending cash

Ok so we've got all the ADRs taken care of, we paid the Vaca package (including the Deluxe Dinning Plan)off in full, even purchased the Photopass CD. So all that's left is spending money and tips money. So here is my saving plan. I will purchase a $50 disney gift card each week till our trip Oct. 14. this should give me $1100 for spending that I will not be able to get to - "till the trip".

We do something similar....we are putting up 25 dollars everytime we go to the grocery store between now and our trip. We had thought about buying a gift card everytime we go to the store but we didn't want to carry that many around.

That's a fantastic plan for spending!

Do you have a plan for tips? I'll often grab an extra $10 cash when I hit the grocery store and ask for it in 2x$5. Then I stick the change in a envelope with my travel documents.

I really need to do something this since when my Disney money is in my savings I have a bad habit of "borrowing" from it. I've managed to replace it all for this trip but still. That way I would have absolutely NO way of getting to it until Disney...

That was my issue as well. The card idea keeps me from getting to it.

as for tips I do an envelope that I put 10 bucks a week in. But I have to admit I have snuck into it a time or two.

I have $1000 in gift cards ($15 to $500 denominations) right now to take for spending money.
I allow myself so much per day (of course I go over sometimes) and leave the majority of the cards in the safe in the room. Each morning I take a few with me and if I have to charge something to the room I use a gift card to pay the balance. I know exactly how much I have, I've even used them for tipping at restaurants.
In all my time of going to Disney with gift cards I've only lost one once and that was totally my fault...rushing around and not taking care of things. Well lesson learned... biggrin
have a great time and enjoy your trip.

I usually have two "travel day food" envelopes as well. LOL! Because the airport doesn't take snack credits! Anyhow I broke into mine last week to order Pizza at home instead of cook. Now each day next week is $20 shorter.

We will eat before the flight down, it's only 2 hours on Southwest from Nashville. and we will have one last Disney Dinning Meal before we head home. So no need for the "travel day food" envelopes. but it's so hard not to touch the cash when an unplanned need arises (i.e. pizza awesome )
