Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

I was wondering if someone had some thoughts on this. I will be at Disney from 5/12 - 5/19 and I very much want to do the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride but my concern is that it won't be listed on March 13 when I have to do my FP selections especially now that you can only get 3 FP a day/park. So that being said how would some of you handle this situation. Am sure this ride will be very busy as it will be a new ride so I think am giving myself a headache trying to get a good solution to this. So please let me know all your wonderful ideas on how best you would handle this.

Well there is nothing you can do if its not listed for the Fastpass+ , so why worry about it? They haven't even given an official opening date yet.

True mrhub but I really hate waiting in long lines. So as you kindly said there is nothing I can do about it. But when you are a planner like I am it is the loose ends that make me crazy. Sad

Well I am not very familiar with exactly how the new fp system exactly works. don't know if you can change any fp choices after you have made your original selections, but what I had done in the past like say for a ride in ak or toy story mania in hs I would book an early adr for breakfast before the park opened so we would be one of the few in there, and once we ate would head right over to that ride and wait for the fp line to open and be in front of the line for a fp.

So book yourself 2 fp for the day at mk get yourself a adr at crystal palace for breakfast early, not a day with early morning extra magic hours, more like a day when the park opens at 900 and get your adr's for say 8 or earlier if you can, then as soon as you done eating head right over there wait in line and get your fp. this does require maybe getting up a little earlier than you want, but if you really want to do the ride it will be worth it.

not sure if that works for you, but that is what we do and it works for us

Thanks for senseicj for taking the time to answer my question but with the new FP system there is no more paper tickets/kiosks. And unfortunately I have all my dinners and breakfast plans made (as I did that 180 days out). I know that last year when I went in October I was able to change and delete a previous made FP. What I don't remember (because I wasn't interested in doing it) was whether or not I could add a new one if I only select 2. That may be the way to go if the system allow it.

Yes senseicj you can change your Fastpass+ choices up to the time that you use them on the day they are for. For example, I had made all early fastpass choices for HS on day and we decided to go somewhere else, I had not used them yet and had actually missed one and I was able to pick 3 other fastpasses for MK since we had not used any that day yet. Once you use one though, you have to use the remaining in the same park, but you can change what ride you want as long as fastpasses are still available for it that day.

Well that is good to know Mr. Hub

well that is too bad because it used to work really well, but I thought I read somewhere that they were going to have kiosks there for the people who did not do the early fp planning ahead , but like I said not that familiar since last time we were there they did not have this yet, so looking forward to it

I would be willing to bet that "the" most popular rides like toy story mania will still have fast pass + options the week of. Due to the limited amount of fast passes we can have in any given day. Maybe Mandy can way in since this is exactly what she does in the magic kingdom. I know planning is critical to many of us. You can make them at 60 days when you do I Bet you will be like the rest of us trying to decided which 3 do you really want the shortest wait for. Then you still have the ability to change if and when the mine train opens up. Mk just has so many popular fast pass rides. Soon to have the four mountains. Hm, pirates, Peter Pan, little mermaid. And enchanted tales with belle. You odds are in your favor if this is you top pick. Hang in there.

Yes they do have the kiosks for people who did not use fastpass+ online or are staying off property. They are not paper tickets though. You just make your fastpass+ selections on the day you go to the park and they connect to your magicband. Best to make them all as soon as you go in to the park.

Hi Magic Days thanks for you kind words of encouragement. I hope you will be right and it will allow me to do what I need to do..as I am a plan freak for Disney.

So Mr. Hub it sounds like you can still get an early adr and still get over to the kiosk hopefully before the large wave of people get into the line?

Yes, they have several kiosks around, but there are many places set up with CM's that have iPads and they work with you to set up your fastpasses. They seem to be really quick, even if the lines may look long. Here is the thread Mandy started, she works at the fastpass+ stations: http://www.wdwforgrownups.com/forum/fastpass-questions-answered

She would have the most up to date info since she works with that.

Hi Mrhub
Thanks for the link but that was written back in June 2013 and there have been changes since that. For instance when I was there this past October I did my 3 FP day/park before I left but I still got a key card and when I went to the park I could still get the FP the old way. Now they do have kiosks at certain spots of each park but I don't know how that will truly work...meaning I thought it was mostly for people who weren't staying on Disney property and/or people who don't do My Disney Experience. i guess because this is all new (a new way to do things) that is what is confusing and causing me stress. As I love to plan my trip to Disney but I like to leave a lot of open time for walking around whatever park am in and seeing things and not standing in lines for hours. But that may just be me. sad

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride should be open by the time you get here. You can change your fp+ selections at any time unless they are used. Lets say you got Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan and Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid for MK, then about a week or so before you come, they open up Seven Dwarfs Mine, you can change one of your fp+ selections for it.

Sorry Kathys but I don't know what you are referring to that was written in June 2013, the link I posted goes to Mandy's thread which was started 2/8/2014.

You're welcome. Not sure if it will be officially open by that time or just soft opening/pre-views. But should be up and running none the less.

Yes your right, compared to the 12 & 14 inch snows we had been having every few days, it was a dusting. I would just like to head to WDW right now!
