Should I Order Photopass+?

The new photopass+ came out, and I'm really wondering if it'd be worth it for us. For all of you who haven't read my posts here yet, I'll be in WDW next month with my girlfriend. I'll be proposing ( yay ) and we'll be staying club lvl at AKL for 5 nights..6 days.

She's going to bring her camera, and she'll take pics, but professional photopass is different..I'd like to have nice ones to have of us to remember this trip. I'm thinking it may be worth it. I mean if I'm spending all this money on the trip...airfare..DDP...and a ring...what's another $170, right?

Whatcha guys think?

Thanks!

I think you totally need a nice engagement photo in front of the castle for your announcements. wink

I personally never buy the CD, but I do usually end up buying a nice family portrait at the end of the trip.

the photo pass is great, and they can do some cool things with the photo's also. one year the dw and i were on a trip pre Erik, and we took a pic together, the photographer told us to put our hands out like we were holding something and to look surprised. when we got home we looked at all our pics and in that one they had added a tinkerbell and it looked like we were holding her, it was pretty cool. i will have to see if i can find it somewhere and post it

In general...what exactly am I getting with Photopass+ vs. regular Photopass vs. other options? What are my other options?

I think for this trip you definitely should! We did it two years ago on our engagecation to Disney and we got so many fun photos! As soon as people saw the ring and the just engaged pins they had us taking a zillion pictures all over. Chip and Dale made lou re-propose for the camera and half of the other photographers did as well in front of the castle. We came back with so many great photos and great memories. I think it's worth it to have it! Plus, you can add captions on them on the site such as "just engaged" and we used these as our announcements. Very fun!

stars stars I just recently saw a dsicoutn for Photopass + on mousesavers.com....it's $30.00 less I believe.... but when you consider the price of Hoop De Doo and Tusker House photos in addition to the photo's from the rides....I really think it's a great deal...IF you would most likely buy the photos to begin with that is...Smile

Let me preference this by stating it's not my intent to insult anyone.

That being said....I'm not a big fan of Photopass photographers. Once in a while you get an experienced photographer, but most of the time you get someone with very basic skills. For me, the end result were numerous pictures that were either overexposed, underexposed, blurry, or lacked fill light.

That being said, I almost feel forced to use Photopass sometimes because there are instances where my wife and I go by ourselves to WDW. Therefore in order to get pictures of ourselves, we find ourselves reliant on cast members or Photopass photographers in order to secure pictures of us together. After our last trip in 2011, I was really disappointed there were only a handful of pictures that I would consider properly exposed and reasonably sharp.

Again...my intent is not to insult anyone who likes Photopass. I wanted to be honest regarding my feelings.

I did a photopass share in October. It cost about $30. We took quite a few pics. It was fun posing for them. Only a few were very good. The key to photo pass pictures is to be as nutty as possible. I may do it again. For $30 you can't go wrong.

I usually get a photopass card and just order single shots. PhotoPass is expensive and like traylorc mentioned above, there's no promise that the shot is going to be any good. Most of the time I hand my camera off to them and have them take a couple for me too. You can ask ANY cast member to take a picture of you with your own camera and they will be more than happy to stop and oblige.

This. When DH and I were there we obviously wanted pictures with the both of us, so we always gave the PhotoPass CM our card to scan and then asked them to take a few shots with our own camera so we'd have both to choose from.

Some folks have mentioned letting the Photopass folks take shots with their camera. I recommend this...that way you have shots taken with your desired settings.

I got the PhotoPass+ for our trip which starts tomorrow. First time I've tried it. Thanks for the tips, everyone!
