A small flickr trip collection

Here is just a small collection of photos I took on my vacation... tossed up on to flickr.

I'm up in the air what I want to do with online photo management. I've been using picasa, but I'm not a fan of the Mac client. I was going to use my posterous account, which I really do like... it seems like it missing something. So I'm just going to toss some of it on flickr... and I'll think about going pro (doubtful)

Anyways here are some of my trip pictures... all taken with an iPhone4

Some of them appear as duplicates... but its the same shot... just not HDR-ized.

I think I have 5 favorites in the set.

I'll be interested to hear what you decide technology wise. We're actually trying to figure out what to do with all our pictures too.

I'm with you..I never know what to do with my pictures. Most of mine are on Photobucket right now..but I don't love Photobucket.

I think ideally for me Picasa really is the best bet, if I had a good piece of software for uploading my images. Then again, I'm starting to get wary of Google as they are turning a tad creepy.

I don't take that many photos, on a consistent basis to justify the cost of flickr pro.

And yes, I do enjoy that dumbo photo... you may enjoy this one I took earlier in the year http://pict.ified.us/magic-kingdom-28 check out the fourth image in the set.

Creepy Google:

It isn't just one thing but a growing Google trend that just happens as a powerful tech company like google grows and monazites everything it knows about you. More it knows, more money it makes, more money it makes more it wants to know about you. As a result it "gives" you free services that takes advantage of this knowledge... Google is not a a search company, it is an ad company. Recently Eric Schmidt, google CEO said "Google's policy is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it." The idea of a company walking up to that creepy line in itself is creepy. When your also pushing that line, what was once creepy soon becomes acceptable.

With that said I use Google Mail, Google Docs, Google Voice and all the other services they offer... but I'm starting to look for an escape route just incase.

The big problem with picking a picture storing software is that if you don't like it it's going to be a HUGE pain to change.

This is so true. I used to have all my photos on Yahoo and then they just decided they weren't offering that service anymore and then poof, photos gone.

What a nightmare. How long of a head-start did they give you?

I don't really remember. It's just that I wasn't really into the internet and using online apps as I am now so that was my first attempt at storing pictures somewhere. Now I use an external drive and am working on burning CD's as a back up just in case. You never know.

Yes it was sundown, it was around 715 as I was heading out of the park heading to Boma for dinner. I was standing nearly unders space ship earth.... right now I'm using that as my desktop background...

How often do you change your background? I usually stick with one for too long. I wish I took more good pictures like this so I could switch them out frequently.

My desktop changes as my mood does. Typically I just opt for something less memory intensive and go with a plan background color than an image. But when the mood strikes, I'll have a picture up for 2-3 weeks.

I think I just may bite the biscuit and upgrade to a flickr pro account. I haven't seen anything else around that I like as much. Clean UI, it has an API used by many, and I still feel as if the images are mine while allowing me to share my images in a social mannor. I'll have to give iLife 11 a nice once over. My current version of iPhoto only exports the "web" sized image to flickr. ;(
