Snack and Beverage Price Increases at WDW

I 've seen this on a few sites today but here's one link with some additional detail on what's increasing and by now much.

I have to admit that I don't think the Mickey pretzels are worth the $1 price increase. They were borderline for me at the previous price but I always loved getting them. I might stick to popcorn instead.

I've been following this on DFB and it is insane. These are huge price jumps. It's like Disney said "forget nickel and dime-ing folks to death. That's way too subtle. People are stupid. We're going to put the highest price we can think of on the food and they'll just pay it."

However as I was reading the DFB article I had the passing thought "Damn I'm glad we're on the dining plan." Suddenly it all made sense.

Higher labor costs equals increased prices, economics 101. Disney isn't going to pay for the living wage, we are.

I am so glad we have bought the QS dining plan this time at least we will be able to afford to eat something and the soda/water prices are totally ridiculous.

I also saw.on the DFB, Kristen, that people are noting price increases at the food and wine festival right in the middle of the festival.

I agree, Sally-Ann. I'll bring my own pretzels!

What?! NO! Not the food & wine items! I already had my spreadsheet all done!!!

I just put a couple cases of water and bottles of soda in my Amazon Prime Now cart to have delivered next Thursday. Glad I was never into pretzels but my daughter can't go without the ice cream bars so that is a tough one to swallow.

Right!?

When I write I always try to note that prices are subject to change (or leave out the price all together) but changing in the middle of the festival is just shameful.

Target and Amazon aren't raising the price of a Coke by $1 and they have wage increases in the works. Disney Parks and Resorts division has regular operating profits in excess of $10,000,000,000. A $5 and hour increase at 40 hours a week, for 70,000 employees only comes to $728,000,000. That's not even a tenth of the regular profits. Fleecing the guests is not cool. Seriously, if they were giving little bumps over the next few years as they raise wages no one would even notice. But they don't have to raise wages to $15 until 2021. I'm positive prices will go up again by then.

That's exactly what they want. Upcharge everything so people will go with the dining plan. I have to admit when I go I always get the dining plan. It's easier on my wallet.
