Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom MNSSHP special event cards

I was doing some research today on the SOTMK cards, since we still need to complete out set from our 2012 trip, and found out WDW gave out special event cards last year at MNSSHP and MVMCP!! I don't know how I missed this post from last year:

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/09/sorcerers-of-the-magic-kingdom-fans-receive-an-extra-treat-at-mickeys-not-so-scary-halloween-party/

I'm hoping they do this again - anyone have any inside scoop? I'll be sure to ask when we attend MNSSHP on 9/17.

JeffC,
Do you have 1-70? The two special cards were given out during the Halloween and Xmas parties last year. There are SotMK trading groups on FaceBook. A lot of us trade by mail as well. I'm not sure if new cards will be given out. The rumor is that Disney was going to retire the first set although that hasn't happened yet. If need be you can always resort to ebay. There are lots of cards online.

Thank Dee. I have abut 40 of the 70, so I plan to get more during our September trip. I did see some on eBay but not all that interested in buying one, so I will ask when we're there. Who knew! Well, clearly you and Kristen did! Lol.

Thanks for the info.

They gave out special cards for both events last year (I got both), and I am guessing that they'll give out new cards for both events this year as well.

I think I still need about 10 more cards to complete the whole thing. The funny thing is that our monthly Windy City Pin Traders meet has also become the Sorcerer card trading meet. A lot of people are bringing their cards to trade.

Hit me with your wants (from 1-60) JeffC and Zz. I've got a lot of extras. During our meet n greets last year I gave away several cards. I'd be able to help you both or anyone else for that matter with your collections. awesome

I still have like 5 or 6 unopened packs of card that I got during our last few trips. I only have about half the cards but a lot of duplicates.

If we can jump in getting some extras, that would be fantastic too: my husband discovered it over our honeymoon and is obsessed! We don't have that many yet but he eventually wants all 1-70!

We just heard from our friends who are down there right now to attend the 13 Reflections of Evil event. Starting tomorrow, you will have to defeat a villain first before getting your set of cards for that day! I am not clear whether this involves just playing at one window (I think you defeat A villain each time, don't you?) or if you have to finish the whole round.

Zz, you get a set of cards when you sign up or once each day. After you defeat all of the villains you can get another set of cards that day. Each villain is defeated by fighting at a series of portals. Fantasyland, Frontierland etc...depending on how busy the parks are you can finish each villain in about 25-35 minutes.

So they are giving out two sets of cards per day if one defeats all the villains? That seems pretty generous!

Correct. You can get your set for the day then if you finish the game by defeating Hades, you can get another set for the day if you choose. You can then go up to a harder level or stay on easy.

How many cards in a pack? How easy is it to get to 70?

7 cards. It took me a few months to get the first 60 because I got a lot of the same cards. I only finished my set because I sat down and traded cards with others. Then the last 10 you have to buy and that is also a gamble on which cards you will get.

I believe there are 5-7 cards per pack but everyone in your party can get a pack not just the people actively playing. Cards 61-70 are usually bought or traded, they are the lightening cards, one lightening card comes in every home game pack that you purchase, there are also other cards in the home game packs.

Technically there are 73 cards in this series with the addition of the new halloween card and i'm sure there will be a new christmas card as well.

There's a trading group on FB, people RAK cards often so it's pretty easy to get cards 1-60.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is a serious game and you know the serious people because they'll have book with the cards and not using a map to find portals, wearing one of the t-shirts and just getting totally into it. I am one of those people. I have a book with all of my cards in it. But I'm glad they came out with a new Halloween card. I hope they come out with a new Christmas card as well.

My DB got me a baseball card holder that's a three ring binder. I'm looking into something smaller that's easier to carry and less of a concern for security. Disney sells an official holder for the cards.

JMU, google sotmk videos, there are some great ones, they'll explain the game. The cards are found at the firehouse and behind the xmas shoppe. Everyone in your party can get a packet of cards each day. You fight villains by using the cards at different portals throughout the MK.
